visor drooping
since you have the visors off, if they droop, usually an easy fix. I removed the rod and found 2 friction fittings embedded inside the visor had worn down the contact surfaces of the rod. those friction fittings aren't adjustable AFAIK, so I mixed up some JB Weld and after cleaning the worn area and...

Re: rebuilding ignition switch
Don I am guessing as I already put mine back together.. but mine had 2 Fingers stacked on top, and the middle one has a hole in the middle of it so the plastic push rod can push on the starter contact without displacing the finger. I am guessing each is 24 to 30 gauge in thickness... but just a gues...

FIXED -rebuilding ignition switch
all fixed. the " push" movement on these italian ignition switches is like <2mm.. so everything has to be set perfectly for the contacts to touch. I ended up replacing the post with a new bolt and set it to the correct distance using washers under the head. took some trial and error. works fine. The...

Re: rebuilding ignition switch
ok great.., i wasn't sure if I could solder or "build up" the point... which was my initial thought so I am going to try that.. agree t is a uber simple design, so I guess for a 50 year old car with 163K Km and lots of starts its not surprising... I do see the hole of the locking steering column so ...

rebuilding ignition switch
yesterday my "push to start" CEAM ignition switch wouldn't power the starter. everything else worked as it should. I tested with OHM meter and only the push to start terminals lacked continuity when pushed. so i took it apart. The points shown in the pics were arc'd and worn, and therefore not makin...

Re: Resistor sparkplugs
found 2 things online that sounded reasonable: first was pic from NGK attached stating it won't affect performance. second was this: drawback to resistor plugs as i applies to Older cars, esp magneto pre60s cars... It raises the voltage to the point that it can cause insulation failure in older coil...

Re: Resistor sparkplugs
So I just read the recent post below mine on ignition coils and realized I should mention my car runs an electronic ignition set up from the 70s using Motorola boxes and a lobe sense pick up in the distributor,.I prefer not to fry those boxes by putting in the wrong spark plugs that’s why am asking M

Resistor sparkplugs
Bought some ngk bp7es online. Had some trouble finding non-resistor plugs. One vendor sent me bpr7es. I have 1k resistor boots in perfect condition. What harm is there in using resistor plugs when non-resistor type are specified.?

162000 km
Jamie and I took the 330 to her mothers house for dinner tonight… Beautiful weekend in Atlanta… I turned 162,000 km on the way. The only thing not working… The darn o’clock ....One of these days I just need to pull that thing out and get it repaired. I’ve now put about 6000 km in four years on this ...

Re: Vapor lock solution for carb cars
kerry
I run an electric pump all the time, and have insulated my pump with some good stuff to keep heat from the fuel lines and pump,
even in atlanta I don't have any vapor lock issues, my mechanical pump is there but doesn't supply enough flow so I just use bendix style for continuous flow..

Re: Glass Polishing
JOhn totally worth the effort... I ended up getting best luck with a Random orbital polisher, a firmer Orange pad, and glass abrasive paste... took a while , but was able to eliminate all those fine scratches that make driving in night, bright light, just seem hazier etc... the abrasive paste will h...
