Heater Core

How much dismantling is involved in removing the heater rediator? Is it necessary to remove the dash? The car in question is a 250 GT PF. The system should be similar to that of the 250 GTE's, meaning, the air supply comes from the small grill located between the windshield wiper bases. Thanks for a...

Roger, I am glad and excited for you. 6 FER, that will top it off. Make sure the ashtray has the double flags on it as opposed to a cavallino rampante. Also, the flags motif on the trunk are different from one model to another (for instance, the Europa). I will send you a picture of mine. I've been ...

Roger, I have been meaning to send you more pictures but the car has been off the ground for three months now and the dash is rather disassembled. Regardless, I will send you some photos in the next few days. Sunday will be the car's first outing in awhile. We are taking it to the annual Hillsboroug...

Gasket thickness is very important for certain places like the valve covers, only because of the two little bolts that fasten the distributor drive base to the valve cover. If the gasket wasn't the right thickness the holes would not match and the bolts would not mount. But if it weren't for these t...

Rudy, Most parts suppliers, like T. Rutlands or GT Car Parts carry the oil pan gasket. I didn't have much luke with the fit of the one I got, so now I always cut my own; however, it is a time consuming proposition. If you haven't removed the oil pan for awhile, you'll be surprised to find the amount...

The sience of gaskets

I find gaskets supplied by the various parts dealers to be substandard in fit (not to mention unnecessarily expensive), so I always cut my own. It is timeconsuming, but it is the only way to get a perfect fit. There are gasket papers of varying thickness on the market. Does anyone know how the thick...

Ian,

Recently Tom sent me a picture of a 365GTC/4 being carried around on a forklift. We were kidding around and the picture was some kinda joke, but the car was for real and it was probably part of his collection.

Ruedi, Eventhough you don't mean to offend Paul you are in fact offensive. How can you not want to start a "flame war" when you take a stand like that? If you have an opinion of this nature you may not attack a person directly as you did. You could just as well email that person privately. John Vard...

Matt,

The sheet metal is to keep the o-ring from crinkling when you slide on the valve cover. Remember, first you slide on the sprocket cover with the half o-ring attached, then you slide on the valve cover.

Matt, Your problem is no big deal. This is how I tackled mine: 1. Remove the valve cover and the sprocket cover and clean and degrease all mating surfaces. 2. Carfuly cut away the top section of the o-ring 3. Shave off the leftover stubs so that the the ends in the half that stays in are flush with ...

Matt, Art's 275GTB tends to backfire through the carbs which is generally a sign of lean mixture. Mine was doing the same thing a few years ago but the problem was with the fuel pump. It wasn't delivering enough volume. We've been talking with Mike at Pierce about Art's car and have gotten some poin...

Matt,

I was with a friend when I met you, if you recall. He ended up buying the silver Shortnose from deGarmo. If you guys like to compare notes let me know. I can give you his email address. He is tackling carburetion problems at the moment.

Thanks.

Roger,

You may try Tom Shaughnessy in Southern California. His email is gt40mirage@aol.com. You may also try Fred Petroske in the Midwest. His email is petroske@gisco.net. If no luck let us know there are a few others.

Matt,

Did you end up buying the red shortnose? If I'm not mistaken, I met you at Fantasy Junction about a year ago. There was a yellow shortnose there at the time we were discussing.
