I posted this onto the FCA NW region club chat email list. That should alert quite a few peopel in Oregon and Washington.

If you subscribe to the Ferrari Market Letter, you should have Gerald put a notice there. That will cover a lot of the country.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I hope that your insurance covers your loss, but even so it was obvious that you put a lot of your own sweat into that engine.

Good luck with the recovery effort.

Dreadfully sad to hear your news. I think there are quite a few of us who worry about the possibility of some nut breaking into our garages and stealing Ferrari bits.

With my car car so often in pieces I worry about kids breaking in just to steal a Ferrari grill, or badges. To lose an engine would be devestating. Insurance doesn't even get close when so much effort and passion has been invested in a major project.

My heart goes out to you, best wishes

That's unbelievable. I really feel for you.

Hopefully, there are't a lot places where someone could sell your stolen property without getting those goods identified by someone.

Good luck.

Hi Andrew,

I am so sorry this happend to you. If there is anything else I can do on this website to help you find your engine, please let me know! Hopefully with the network of Ferrari people, vendors and owners, it will be hard to sell these parts.

God, that is awful! For what it is worth, Andrew, I took the liberty of pasting your post on Ferrarichat - General Ferrari Discussion section as well as the NW section. the more eyes the better.

Fest; so sorry about your misfortune. Chances are whoever took your engine knew about your work or had visited your shop. I would back track a bit; you could come up with some suspects. We all hope you will recover your hard work. Best.....Bernard

Yup. Pretty sure that's how it happened. Someone saw your hardware and had a fence for it.

I wouldn't know what to do with a Ferrari V12. I know some young Ferrari entheusiasts (THEY are honest) in the PNW who are surprisingly well connected. I'll ask around.

Thinking about this, what car would that engine go into besides a 400?

badness

Post by fest »

thanks for all the support, guys

I talked to the Insurance Company
and it appears to be covered-
as I have an 'Agreed Value' policy on the Car
(lesson to heed here)
for an amount that is more than I have into it
I should come out OK
other than the blood, sweat and tears
I have invested over the last 10 Months
not to mention the Tools, etc.

as the local constabulatry seems to be unable to find their own ass
(using BOTH hands)
I have hired a Private Detective
who is a retired FBI Agent
and in fact was working on an Auto Theft case
when he retired
(as I am part Sicilian, and this was my Ferrari,
maybe I should have hired a HIT MAN instead)

what apparently happend
was that the kid
that I let store his Motorcycle in the shop
(out of the goodness of my heart)
was the intended victim
that is, we believe that the thieves
were after his motorcycle
and as it happened to not be there
at the time of the break-in
they grabbed the motor instead
these were just stupid young punks
that had no clue
as to the relative difficulty they will encounter
in trying to unload a 'hot' Ferrari Motor
this they will soon find out much to their chagrin
and perhaps a deal can be struck:
such as immunity from prosecution
in return for the safe return of Engine
before they get caught with it
or are forced to dump it

speaking of the young punks responsible:
in Iran, they cut off the hands of thieves
now this idea I like

just a thought but you may want to have your guy put feelers out in the hot rod and dune buggy sector. I would think most young punks would lean that directon then the much more connected Ferrari Family

Good Luck
