Andrew,

Stebro made up my y-pipes from patterns I sent them. Hopefully they remember my car, and have the patterns to make you a set. As you see from my posts about my exhaust, you'll need to use some persuasion.

That system on e-bay has just the right 'patina' as well!

For those of you who recently aquired ANSA systems: from whom and how much did you pay? What's the best source out there?

Hi Andrew,

Have you called Geoff Ohland at Partsource for ANSA pricing? I know the complaint is he never returns calls, but feel free to use my name to try to get some results. It may help, but then again...

BTW, the E-bay exhaust is for an early GTE with the 6-1 headers. Your 330 America has two 3-1 headers per side.

Here's a picture of my 330 America Headers

I'd be a little wary of unknown used systems. In his book on Ferrari maintenance and performance, Allen Bishop goes to great lengths to warn agains rust systems and thei effect on performance. I'd take his advice.

But that is a pretty interesting Ebay find!

It is not my intent to anger the Ferrari Gods but has anyone seen or had any experience with a custom setup from a good shop like the hot rod guys do . Stainless pipes and Flowmaster or similar mufflers. For someone not concerned about originality it might be an option. Please dont tar and feather me for this thought.

The tar is beginning to heat up, slowly.

Dont complain about prices as you run me out of town on a rail. Its just not fair , I make one little coment in the interest of economy and now Im dead man walking .Please, not too hot with the tar and a light coat of feathers. Remember preparation is the key to body work.

No offense intended, but my thought is that if you own an exotic such as we do, you should factor originality over economy as a priority. These individual and unique elements are what make these cars 'exotic' versus all the boring econoboxes we see today. Now, will the feathers set off any allergic reactions?

After looking at the picture of the GTE set on eBay, something didn't look right.

I have a set of NOS ANSA GTE mufflers (destined for the PF coupe). Here's a picture:

The left ones go in front with the top ends attaching to the headers. The right ones are the rear with the exhaust tips at the top of the picture. So the bottom ends fit together.

As you can see, from the eBay picture:

they are not correct. I think that someone took their car into a muffler shop and they made up this set so they fit, but not in the OEM style.

Kerry,

My original system (with holes) looks very similar to the ebay picture.
Thoughts?

Hmmm...you are right. Well, I am quite certain that all the holes in the system appear original!

All I can tell you is that these were probably bought about 15 years ago. The previous owner of my PF coupe accumulated a lot of parts on the project that wasn't finished. The ANSA part numbers on the mufflers match those in FAF catalogs from the mid 70s as ones for a GTE.

The original exhaust system for a PF coupe (and Lusso, etc.) was by Abarth, long since out of business. So the FAF catalog says to use the GTE ones, but be prepared to adjust them as necessary. I'm sure that it's true given that the GTE is about a foot longer. BTW, the price then was $360, not per piece, but for all four!

Here are the current part numbers, etc. from McCann's website (www.allferrariparts.com):
95200010 TAILPIPE, 250GTE2+2, RIGHT (249/D)(ANSA # FE0427) $ 450.00
95200010 TAILPIPE, 250GTE2+2 LEFT (248/S)(ANSA # FE0437) $ 450.00
95200016 MUFFLER, 250GTE2+2, RIGHT (248/D)(ANSA # FE0425) $ 595.00
95200016 MUFFLER, 250GTE2+2, LEFT (248/S)(ANSA # FE0435) $ 595.00
About $2100 for the four pieces today.

These mufflers still had the original ANSA stickers on various places. I passed these on to Buddy Obara and he's getting reproductions made. However, it's been my experience from the 330, that these stickers eventually burn off or dry out and fall off.
