Tom,

Just remember petrol is er, expensive over here, currently around $AUS1.40 per (metric) litre ... thus that Ford Falcon stationwagon might be expensive to run (?).

Anyway DO enjoy yourself :-) and yes it's a great country.

Good Luck Tom!

When I first started looking at Ferraris I found a RHD 250 GTE needing restoration. I wonder if it's still around...

Have a great time, it is a beautiful country. As long as you're going south, head over to Tazmania. Also, I hear they have great metal fabricators in NZ!

Regards,

Art S.

PS. This fall willbe the last chance to put together a Tom Yang memorial drive, lets do it!

the Australians at the tomyang.net party in Monterey clearly put something in your drink!!

this is a great and inspired move. Have lots of fun; enjoy it. We'll still be here. We will miss you though at the 2006 National down here in DC. Maybe Yale can bring both his and your car down and show it - you might get a prize in absentia!

Tom,

The type of things you're planning have a way of starting big changes...the four month "sabbatical" I started in Jan. '04 turned into retirement that summer, and I didn't even set foot out of Dallas. Now other possibilities are beginning to suggest themselves. I won't be surprised at any new direction your life takes.

Best wishes,

Scott

Hi Pete,

We're thinking about having a car that we can use to sleep in if we decide to go off the beaten path, so a wagon seems to be the best compromise. We'l stay in Motels and tent-camp most of the time, but will have the car to sleep in if it rains. I hope my logic is correct.

Tom,

Have fun. You'll never forget it.

Boy it must be hard to have your 330 99.9% done then leave it!

Tom,

Your logic is fine ... and there are plenty of cheap enough Motels and caravan/tent parks to catch your breathe in.

As for rain ... NSW is in a drought ;-), so if you make it break you will be the toast of NSW, especially if it follows you around! ... hahaha.

Anyway for open road driving your Falcon will cruise along pretty economically I guess.

Enjoy the trip, enjoy your family, and enjoy an amazing country filled with incredible people. I spent a month with my wife traveling the east coast of Australia some years back and found the people to be genuine, warm, and accomodating, as I'm sure you will too.
