kick plates

Post by mark »

Greetings all. I have 5 sets of 250 and 330 kick plates fabricated. I have received interest from Ed Montini, Treue, and Rudy via PM. Perhaps there are others...

I have posted the cost, plus shipping handling and insurance (US only) on the original thread, 5 times for emphasis (by mistake actually).

Anyway, I will let these things languish in my office for a month or so. Then I will start marketing them to other venues...... just a friendly reminder.

All,

I just received my new kick panels from Mark and they are perfect. The material is almost identical to the original. You would have to put a piece of the original material right next to the new to tell the difference, and even then the difference is very slight. The dimensions of the pieces were right on. Thanks, Mark, for taking care of this.

Thanks Tom:

Tom Wilson deserves credit as well, he sourced the raw material.

I just received a check from Ed Montini, post marked Italy. Talk about sending coal to Newcastle! Ed, your order, (2) sets will go out next week.

I have (2) sets of 330 plates and (4) sets of 250 remaining.

Cheers

Kick Plates

Post by enio45 »

Kick Plates are awesome!!!!!!

I brought one set with me back to Italy and showed the guys at the leather shop in Modena (Luppi - they are the original upholstry shop for ferrari and do alot of the new ferrari modeling interior work you see at the motor shows etc - as well they are doing my seats for the 330). They were quite impressed with the look and closeness to the original.

Thanks again Mark!!

Kick Plates aluminum embossed material.

Post by Dave Payne »

I finally found the aluminum kick plate material for my GTE door panels. I purchased a piece of the material (used on the side trim of the "57 Chevy BelAir) from Danchuk. I have enough extra material to do one or two cars 250 GTE or 330. Hope this helps someone else that needs this material. It took me years to find it... michael2000@cox.net

Kick Plates

Dave, this is what we use, we have Danchuk make avail this to the Ferrari team enough to do kick panels, then we had a CAD design the cutouts specifically for the 330 and 250 which Tom Wilson and Mark Travers completed.

Mark has a few sets left of the run we did already cut.

Hope this helps you somewhat?

Kick plates.

Post by Dave Payne »

Hi Ed - Thanks a lot. I didn't know about this forum until very recently. I would have been glad to get a set of panels from Mark if I had known. I was able to get a panel from Danchuk and painstakingly made my panels using great care not to scratch the parts while cutting/filing, etc. They turned out great. Not being able to find the trim was holding up my project, since I couldn't put the door panels back on. Thanks again.

Just a comment on how good a deal these plates are. I just got my car back after a redo of the complete interior and I used the material that Luke had bought and then sold to me at his cost. I am extremely pleased with the work done but my finished cost for the plates was way more than 4 times the cost of buying one of these sets (material and then the fabrication). Timing is everything. If I were even thinking of doing my interior in the future, I would buy a set and put them aside.

What I wonder is, my kick plates seem fine on my 40 year old car, what is going on with folks kick plates out there? Are you kicking them? The GTE's plates seem to be in a more precarious -bangable, kickable- situation. Yale
