GTE NOS Fog Lights on eBay

Post by Tom Wilson »

There has been some discussion of propert lights lately so I thoght this might be of interest. Looks like they would be appropriate for a Series I or II GTE.

Nope! Bottom mount, not rear mount. Also, rather overprived for Ebay, that's the retail rate.

Those Ebay Marchals are not NOS but they are new. In fact those are reproductions made by our company. Brad NLA-USA 1-800-438-8119

GTE NOS Foglights on eBay.

Post by Dave Payne »

I recently bought a set of the "NEW" Marchal foglights that a few guys are selling on eBay. When received, it was clear that they were not the same as the original, however they were very good re-productions. I sent them back for a refund with no questions asked. They were very close, but I needed perfect original parts for my car.

I purchased some reproduction Marchals from Bill Tracy Jaguar in Florida. They are quite good quality lights and were only $79.00 per lamp at the time. I still have the originals for my GTE but have not put them back on the car just yet. They were in a box in the trunk when I bought the car.

Does anyone have suggestions on who to use to restore originals? I need to rechrome the housings and resilver (recondition) the reflectors.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced solution.

Fog lights.

Post by Dave Payne »

Art - I would recommend looking on eBay for NOS fog light parts you need. I have had good luck. I tried unsuccessfully to find a good place to re-chrome the housing, and re-silver the reflectors. No luck. Of course re-chromed and re-silvered parts just aren't the same as good originals. What lights do you need? Do you have a picture?

Hi Dave,

I have a bunch of 6 series Marchals ranging in condition from mint to worn. I thought I would get some of the worn ones fixed up. I really don't need any more, (well maybe a nice 658). My thought was if there was a vendor that restored them well and at a reasonable price, I would send him a bunch for overhaul or put together a large order with the tomyang.net team.

Dave,

Those lights (I've tried to attach the link below), aren't bad but I don't know the vendor and its not clear from the picture what is wrong with the one that needs work. In my opinion, $169. is a bit high considering one of the lights is not NOS. Stylewise, I prefer these over the ones with the little crest at the top (the lights are the same as the ones with the crests except the bezel). Also, I prefer spot lenses vs. fog lenses - much more useful light.

Do you know anyone who sells H1 bulb adaptors for these units?

Art S.

Art - You have some good observations. I would probably ask the seller to send a few more close-up pictures with the lights dis-assembled. They might actually be a very good deal at the price. I don't need any more ( I bought a few during the last year or so) or I would follow up on these. The guy's eBay feed-back is "666", so I might wait until he sells something else first. Ha! I have no idea if there is a bulb holder to get away from the 3-prong over-priced-and-hard-to-find bulbs. I'm sure you could fabricate something.

Dave,

Thanks for the advice on the lights. I'll follow up and let Sam know - he was looking for as set.

I'm interested in the bulb holder for a different reason than price. My 658 is an 'IODE' marked unit. As far as I can tell, this just means it uses H1 bulbs. The light output is very impressive compared to the regular units so I was wondering if this H1 mount is available anywhere (are they generic or Marchal specific)?
