Cheney Clamps Needed

Post by jsa330 »

I need the following Cheney clamps...I don't know size designations, so application is given:

2 for upper radiator hose connections.

2 for lower radiator hose connections.

4 for heater hose connections: 2 @ lower radiator, 2 @ heater valve.

I want seviceable condition and decent appearance, dirty ok if not badly corroded and will clean up well.

If you've got all or some of these that you wouldn't mind parting with, please drop me a pm. I will pay fair price.

Thanks,

Scott

You can check with Bill Tracy in Flordia. Billtracyjaguar.com. I do not know if the ones he has for sale are repros or nos. Also re-originals has them. Again maybe repros.

Since Jaguar used them on their cars awhile back, try the British bone yards that have adverts in Hemmings, and eBay. Prices vary widely from reasonable for used dirty ones to very expensive from dealers. In concourse they are the first focal point if you are headed that way. In any event they are the correct thing to have.

Fred Petroske at Mostly British had the Cheneys I need. Re-Originals is currently stocking new reproductions but they're bright chrome-plated and I wanted original ones with some patina to go with the rest of my car.

Thanks, Jim and Matt, for your suggestions.

It seems that some reproduction Cheney clamps are now on the market.

Look at the FerrariChat thread for some information:
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showth ... p?t=150462

One source of these new clamps is Welsh Enterprises in OH (http://www.welshent.com). They have an eBay store (http://stores.ebay.com/JAGS-JAGS-JAGS) that lists them for $10 each in the various sized from 1 1/8" to 2 5/8".

Re-Originals (http://www.reoriginals.com) also carries them at $12.50 each (evidently you must pay more if you want it for a Ferrari rather than a Jaguer).

In the FC thread, it was stated that the IAC/PFA have decided that any Cheney will do, as long as it says Cheney on it. So these reproductions should be fine for concours judging.

I had to send repro Cheneys back to ReOrig in mid-2006 because the threads stripped when tightening one of them down.

By contrast, original Cheneys will take an apparently near-unlimited amount of torque.

This is not meant to badmouth ReOrig...I've bought plenty of good parts from them, with excellent service, and Matt was very receptive to my description of what happened with the repro clamps.

What size are you looking for? I may have some 5 or 6 #2 originals left over.I also have lots of 00. I need 4 #1's.
