Tom Tjaarda, one of the world's most respected car designers, has graciously accepted an invitation to travel from his home in Turin, Italy to attend ItalianCarFest Weekend, Sept. 8-10, 2006 in Grapevine, Texas (near Dallas).
We are especially excited to have Mr. Tjaarda, best known as the designer of the DeTomaso Pantera, since we are honoring the model's 35th anniversary at this year's event. In addition to the Pantera, he also designed the iconic Ferrari 365 GT California Spider, the classic Fiat 124 Spider and many other wonderful cars. In 1997, he was honored at the Pebble Beach Concours d´Elegance and regularly serves as a judge at that event.
Still active in the industry, Mr. Tjaarda will make a presentation about car design at the 'ICF Saturday Evening at Gaylord', held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center following the all-Italian car show, this year on the waterfront of Lake Grapevine. Mr. Tjaarda states this will be his first trip to Texas. He will make only 2 other appearances in the US this year.
This is another big step in providing Italian car enthusiasts with a show of national prominence that takes place between the coasts. Last year, the Saturday show attendance was 8,500. In addition to Texas, ICF has had entrants from 15 states to date. Thanks again to all who have participated.

Looks like he had plenty of practice on the four-headlight look before designing his masterpiece!ItalianCarFest wrote:Tom Tjaarda accepts invitation to attend ItalianCarFest Weekend, Sept. '06 ...
I haven't been to this event yet but with all the stuff that's finished on my 330 now, it could be a must-go even though September here is very hot.

We would love to have your participation
Unquestionably your car would be a real treasure for enthusiasts to see.
Just a note to say we moved the show to the lake for a number of reasons. One of them being we hope to have a nice breeze from the lake. Of course, the show is again on grass.
Part of your registration- at no extra cost- is access to our private lounge, this year aboard the Lonestar Lady. It is a huge boat with two levels. The lower level includes an air-conditioned 'den'. Complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks will be served.
And we will again offer the under-a-tent option when you register. It is called "the Whole Cannoli".
The average high for show day is 92. Last year was exceptional and it was toasty. Let's hope this September's date, Sept. 9, will fall back into the average. But if it is warmer we have tried to make it more comfortable for entrants by providing the amenities listed above.
Again, I hope you will join us. BTW, it is lots of fun.
