GT/E wiper motor...?

Post by kare »

Can anyone check what is the correct type of a wiper motor in a GT/E? It should be a 5-digit number with an eventual suffix or somthing like that and be stamped on the motor itself.

Hi Kare:

I can't get at the one for my GTE, but the one for my Series II cabriolet is stamped 75361A on the cover. The car is a contemporary of the GTEs and being the same size, should be the same wiper motor, no?

Thanks! Tom, is it possible to open the cover to see, which is there a degree reading stamped on the big wheel? You don't have to do this for me, just in case it is easy I'd like to be sure that the original motor uses a 150 degree wheel. I don't think I will ever find a correct motor, but there might be other model that can be used. I will try to find/check the Lucas catalogues for details. Best wishes, Kare

Hi Kare,

this is what I have on 2169, it does look to have a slightly different cover than Tom Wilsons and the date code looks to be 4-1960, there is also a picture of the internals and degree wheel you requested

Many many thanks (all of you!)

That's good news a I have exactly the same motor! How about the bracket? Mine is missing - it seems to have been replaced with just a piece of scrap metal after the fire and even if I know many Ferrari parts look like just a piece of scrap metal, there are limits to that.

Sorry to be such a pain in the as, but please take a photo of two of the bracket for me, so I know how it should look like!

I have many photos of the 4 mount braket, but the one needed for 75365A is a mystery to me.

Best wishes, Kare

The research goes on. It seems that Ferrari used several types of wiper motors at the same time: 75365A as used on PF Coupé and using identical or a very similar bracket and 75423A as reported by Tom Wilson.

It seems that on my car the 75423A got toasted in the fire and they ordered a spare and got a 75365A instead. Then they tossed the bracket away and attached the new motor by using a piece of scrap metal as a bracket. I now have located a bracket, but wonder will I ever find a 75423A...

Where do we find the mad hatter who knows *EVERYTHING* about Lucas wiper motors and their designations and availability...?
