William - I have a friend locally who has an SII cab in Rosso Rubino, and although I haven't seen it up close in a while, I don't recall it being a metallic color.
Surprisingly (to me at least), my Grigio Scuro, a dark gray, does have a very fine metal flake in it. The way we achieved it was by starting with the spec for a modern Ford color and reducing the metallic until it matched the thumbnail-sized piece of the original paint that I discovered on the steering column bracket.
As for Amaretto, it's the Italian name for an almond-flavored liquor (Di Saronno is the best-known brand in the US), and it's nowhere close to burgundy in color. More like a dark amber/orange.

Thanks David.
I'm not real sure the exact color of my car. I think its rosso rubino. However, it has no matalic.
Sorry about the confusion I ment Amaranto not Amaretto:)
Anybody know the difference between amaranto and burgundy?

The Rosso Rubino we have on GTE 2169 is definately a metalic with the factory color code MM 16119. I have no idea what that code means or if it will be any good for anything. My painter will be doing spray out panels in the next month so we can approve one and look at it on the wall for a few months before we actually paint the car.

Thanks for the input
My original color, from the bits I've seen, was more purple/violet than others I've seen. I'm going to go back to the bodyshop and see if I can get a better look at it, maybe on an interior door panel. In any case, I don't think I'm going to go back to it.
I do like the Rosso Rubino some of you suggested better than my original color. Have seen Lussos in it, although they'd probably look great painted flat black with a broom.
Before I got everyone to weigh in, I was starting to lean towards a lighter color, such as light metallic blue. Was thinking that might help with interior temp here in FL. You've helped me get back to unreality - simply owning one of these cars takes us all well past sensible.
I think those of you who prefer dark colors on the 330 are right. It's a fairly large car. Also, the body will be perfect when it's finished and it would be a shame to waste that on a light color that won't show it off. Darker color also provides a nice contract to trimwork.
I still like blue, but I'm now thinking it needs to be a darker shade. Would work well with original interior color and I've also seen it combined with red. Not sure about exact shade though, or if it should be metallic.
I'll get the shop to spray some test pieces for me in the various shades that have come up in discussion. Have paint codes from Kerry's site and elsewhere, but if anyone's done a blue car recently I'd appreciate the name/code you used.

colour?
Hi all
My 330 MK1 is also at present in its bare metal glory!
same dilema........what colour?!
This will evoke some emotion amongst you all I'm sure as I'm thinking of having it painted 2 tone.........yes 2 tone.........Black through the centre and a deep metalic blue sides and headlight channels......seen same on a 212..................feel this scheme would show the lines of the car beautifully........comments?........no swearing please

The shop where I'm having mine done suggested a two-tone finish also, but similar to the 50s Europas, etc. with the body and roof different colors. I think it looks great on those cars but it didn't appeal to me and I've never seen it on a 330.
Has anyone ever seen this? I imagine the people who could afford these cars when they were new could probably ask for whatever they wanted.

The two tone finish is an automotive fashion of the 50's but I don't see any philosophical reason not to do it on a 60's car. The problem I would have is finding a good delineating place on the bodywork. In many cases 50's cars give the appearance of being an assembly of elements and often have wide trim strips...finding the right place to change colors would have been easier; by the 60's Ferrari styling had evolved into an integrated, sculptured look, and the single-color finishes of that period reflect this.
