There were few PF Coupes built with wooden dash, but here I would vote for later addition. Never heard of a GT/E with a special dash (except for Alan Boe's experimental Series II dash with vertical positioned heater levers).Art S. wrote:I want the headlights!
Actually, Was the was the wood dash factory special order or a later addition? The reason I'm wodering is because of Kerry's PF.
These are the same Ampliluxes that I have. I recently located a NOS set, but unfortunately they were for Volvo 164 (different fixtures).
Best wishes, Kare

I recently saw American (GE) headlights on a GTE and it is possible that they were slightly smaller than the Marchals I have on my car.
I have seen Marchal Equilux/Amplilux headlights with three different fixtures and I don't think the incorrect types can easily be fitted to Ferrari.
Ferrari has flat fixtures at 4,6,8 and 12 o'clock. There is also a variant hook shaped fixture at 6 o'clock (see: http://tinyurl.com/rjlc5). This type will not fall out if the upper fixture fails. They were used on many European autos of the time and sick prices on eBay once again reflect the Ferrari connection. These lights do not necessarily cost a fortune on European swap meets.
Volvo lights I've seen have ears with 90 degree angle. I don't know exactly how they are attached to a car.
Then there are lights with three simple, step shaped ears. These lights seem to have been very common in Europe. I think these lights are snapped solid into the light bucket and adjustment is built into the light bucket inside car.
It might be possible to modify lights by removing wrong fixtures and glueing in flat connectors. Superglues of today might work very well indeed (I think welding would destroy the unit).
Best wishes, Kare
