OK! Now, what is the exact modern equivalent of the stuff that was supposed to come in the bottle???

My horn pump has probably not been lubricated since the bottle and box were lost in, let's see, ... about 1970??

Stop by a hardware store and get some pneumatic (air) tool oil. Comes in a squeeze bottle designed to give a couple of drops at a time. Convenient for oiling the horn until you drop the big bucks for the 'official' bottle.

The fan belt sleeve from Pirelli shows a number at the backside. The reproduction of Kilimanjaro says 60421, an original offered at FCP says 60250.

These numbers specify obviously the exact type of belt - does anybody know the correct number for the 250 GTE?

Hi Martin,

my guess is that it is based on the 128 outside plug engine with MM DN63 Dyno because Parker had a S2 PF Cabriolet and his products focus mainly on the 250. So this would be as your Gte. Within the S3 Gte production there was a change to the MM GCA 101. But this is just a guess.

As I am not sure about this…
1.) it will be interesting what the experts here say about it
2.) I wrote an email to Parker to ask him about it

Hope this helps.

Parker, the gentleman he is, immediately answered. He is not sure about origin of the sample for the repro sleeve but recommends to compare length of the asigned cars on the fan belt sleeve to the length of the belt on the GTE. Makes absolutely sense to me. Perhaps others have original sleeves too and can comment.

Chris, this is a picture of the fan belt that Parker used to supply for the outside plug, dynamo equipped 3.0L motors. It's 1000x10mm.

Chris, in car shows, this is what you see in the tool kit of the outside plug 250GT cars.

John, your picture shows the front page of the card box which was the same for all different sizes of Pirelli fan belts at that time. The interesting thing is the back side with the specific model number of the belt. In the meantime I learnt that the belt for the 250 GT has the measurements 9,5 x 940 which is the same for the Fiat 1100. This means that the repro card box from Parker (see picture) is correct for the 250 GT but probably not for the GTE which has a different belt length and width.

Does anybody have a genuine fan belt in his factory tool kit? This would help to identify the correct Pirelli belt number at the backside.
