Directions to party

Post by afwrench »

Hi guys , as the party approaches Tom has posted directions to my place. If you have any doubts about how to get here please give me a shout and I will clarify. Also ,and this is important , I know that we are all big boys but be carefull going through these small towns as far as speed goes. Stay at the limit while in town for sure and for those who may take RT28 it is often patrolled vigorously by the County and State Police . Do not assume that 10 miles over the limit is a safe bet there. These are not speed traps ,just areas that come up on you fast and can catch you off guard. That aside, looking foward to seeing you soon. Regards Mike

So i t looks like some folks are going to predicate thier showing up on the menu. As it stands now we expect to have: BBQ pork[from Parker Hall],BBQ chicken, some eggplant parm,Muffalata, shrimp, cole slaw, pasta salad and potato salad, various munchies ,and some sweet treats. If this is not adequate please let me know as we want to please all possible tastes.Regards to all ,Mike

Well I personally know Tom cooks a pretty mean burger, but the proposed menu does sound enticing and certainly more than adequate...

Ok, now that I have seen the menu, I can can say that I am in. I mean, Parkers BBQ Pork was quite good last year. However, just to make sure I am making the right decision, what is Muffalata?

mufaletta

Post by David Hodge »

the mufaletta is a traditional sandwich from new orleans that originated at the central grocery, an italian grocery in the french quarter. it's a big round loaf of crispy italian bread with an olive spread sort of like an olive tapenade (but better), provolone (i think), and cold cuts is the best way i can explain it.

i was born in new orleans and i can remember my grandfather walk right up to the counter at central grocery, bypassing all the tourists and shout, "one muff please", very very loudly! then you go to the levee overlooking the river and stuff your face.

I thought Muffalata was the trophy Mike built for Tom last year

Attendance at party

Post by whturner »

My wife and I will be there - but not the Ferrari; the pinion seal sprung a leak too late to get it fixed. I could use it to oil the dirt roads to keep the dust down, I guess, like the old days!
Oh well, what is one less old used car anyway. It is the people who like those cars that count.
See you soon.

Cheers

Hi Warren,

Sorry to hear about the pinion seal, but it will still be a pleasure to see you and your wife at the party!

The weather looks good, so I think there will still be a good turn out of some neat cars!
