Monterey 2002

Post by zac »

I noticed I have not seen any posts on the big car weekend so I thought I could get things started with some pictures I took this year. Please take note that I am by no meens a photoghrapher so i apologize for some of the composition. also note the the nice picture of the gentalmens rear is actually a 196 Dino race cars engine but they only lifted the bonnet for a second and there was a large crowd gathered around. Pay special attention to the picture of the 1950's or early 60's Fiat(Ferrari) transporter with the 375 America Vignale coupe and the 410 SA series one all in as found condition. they were A part of Tom Shaughnessy's display and had to be one of the coolest things at the Concorso this year.

I hope the link works this is my first time posting on the new forum

Hi Zac,

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I changed the url in your first post to work correctly. I found when posting a url on this forum, there's no need for html tags. Posting a picture link requires html tags.

I saw one picture of a Lusso with dark wheels? It was taken from a far, but I noticed because the knock offs looked really bright against the wheels. Did you see what the owner did to the wheels?

Thanks.

Yes I do remember that car the spokes were painted or black oxided with the rim polished and the knock off chromed. not my preference but I have seen that in some other books so maybe it was an option or just a trend at the time. there was also a dino there where the guy had painted every trim piece on the car black including the wheels, also not my personal choice but to each his own.

Great work on the car good to see one nearing completion mine is in a stalling mode at the moment I hate polishing trim so I keep putting it off and then wonder why my car is not getting done.

If any of you fellow So Cal site members are interested in getting you hands dirty and don't have your own car to work on i could sure use some assistance.

Hi Zac,

Tom Sawyer convincved Huck Finn to paint the fence he was supposed to by showing him how much "fun" it was. You've got to convince the SoCal Tifosi how great of a time it will be to help polish SS trim!...or at least offer free beer!

I don't like the look of black paint either, but I wonder if it's just a cheap way out rather than an asthetic thing?

Hi Zac,

It is good to hear from you. While I would "love" to come to SoCal to sand away on some stainless, I am just about to head off to Vegas for my wedding and have - FOOLISHLY - decided to undertake the task of polishing my Strebro SS exhaust system since I am in a holding pattern on my project. For some reason, I thought that polished would look better than the painted exhaust of vintage Ferraris since the system will be visible from the side. If I had only known how long it would take.......
