Congratulations !!! 5053 wakes up from long sleep

Post by Jimmy Chen Shiba »

Congrats, Tom. The long awaited 5053 waking up. Must have been a long wait. I don't know how you could be so patient. Nevertheless, all that waiting and tinkering finally behind you. You certainly deserve, not a gentle pat, but a big kick on your back for your diligence and hard work. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. w/ smiles Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

It's been a long journey, but look at how much my life had changed from this one car. Once the grille comes back, the car will be truly done, but getting her fired up is a pretty big milestone! Thanks.

The push comes from me wanting to enter the car in her first show:

The pressure is on to get it there. Wish me luck!

Well, Tom ...just looking at those shining grille would make those Italians back then proud and certainly win you a prize at the show in June. I can just see you all pumped up w/ adrelanine oozing out of your pores ! Good luck at the show. w/ smiles Jimmy

My car is certainly not a show winner, but I am proud of it none the less. I see a lot of imprefections, but I know I did this car mostly by myself with a limited budget. It'll be fun just to show my car in public for the first time!

Tom,

That is the best part of the restoration of your car, you did it yourself! I really have to give you kudos for doing that. So many times, I have seen pristine cars being judged at Pebble Beach and when the judges ask to the owner to turn on the headlights, the owner is fumbling with all the switches because he has no clue about even the basics of his car. You have an irreplaceable bond with your car that few people will ever have.

Congratulations.
