Yes, I'd like to invite everyone who'd like to see, celebrate, and cherish the old machinery!

I would be happy to host a southeast get together. No club, no rules, just old cars and some fun.

I'm still going to focus on the cars that are a wee bit more modern, only because I know I will have conversations with my kids sounding like "well, I did have this chance to get a Testarossa for $45k..." and I don't want to be the one like my dad who got a new BMW 2002 over a used 275 GTB4...

I meant over here, no older cars... You are the king of the '70s and '80s Ferraris!

I wouldn't go that far.

Maybe just another unknown non-landowning prince...

I know from a couple of years of conversations that Erik is with us when it comes to the spirit/direction of this thread.

Thanks Bryan.

I am of the mindset that the more informal this can be done, the better. I no longer am a member of the FCA (or any club for that matter) and really don't see the need in joining again to enjoy cars that are already paid for that sit out in the garage, waiting to be driven any time. It's not something I feel the need to have a formal event to do. I hold my own private mini-concours most weekends when they all get pulled out for minor work and/or cleaning. Anyone from this group of car nuts is always welcome.

Basically the offer is if you're in the area, stop by with your car and I'll have food/drinks/wine/coffee to share.

Sounds like a great offer! Which area is it that we should be in to stop by?

I live in Huntsville, AL when I'm not in Tokyo or Sao Paulo.

I have to agree with this suggestion. Rather than formal judging, I am one who enjoys the informal gatherings and "shooting the breeze" with others who like to talk shop about cars. If one wants formal judging, there are many venues for that. I would prefer that what ever we do, judging our cars is not a priority (my bias). I think there are enough avenues for cars judging (whether you agree or disagree with the current FCA judges or not). i would rather just "hang out" with friends.

Unfortunately, Huntsville is a bit far for me (I am in Maryland). While Connecticut is closer, it is still a significant drive, but I am considering trying to make it to the TY-3 party. But get togethers of any number of us, 3, 4 or more on any regular basis would be fun and enjoyable. Using regional events to schedule our "pre-computerized ferrari club" meetings would be a good start. (Any other suggests for a name for our group are welcome).

Hi Robert:

Ther are at least 2 of us in Pittsburgh with 330 GTs - I can only speak for one of us, but some parts of Maryland are not too far away. I would be interested.
I am also going to go to TY3 - this time with the Ferrari. It is just a bit less than 400 miles, one way. Hope to see you there.

Cheers

Continuing the thought process behind the marginalization of vintage Ferraris at FCA events, let me ask the following question: how many vintage Ferraris were at the FCA National this year? and how does that number compare to the same number at FCA nationals in the past 10 to 20 years?
By my count, which is obviously not from any official source - just me lookng at online pictures of the event - I come up w/ the following:
1 212 barchetta
1 250 TR
1 Boano
1 250 GTO
1 PF Cab
1 330 America
4 275 GTBs
1 330 2+2
1 330 GTC
1 C/4
2 Daytonas
1 queen mother

even if this is slightly off, seems pretty sparse to me
