NYTs "Dissappointing collectors cars"
Forgive me Tom I know this is not F Chat, but the Testarossa (#4) made their list: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2007/1 ... ECT_2.html Little did I know Chevy Vegas (#9) were sold with a 4 cylinder, twin cam 16 valve Cosworth motor! Gotta have one!!!

I believe once the guys who grew up in the 80s that had posters of the Testarossa on their bedroom walls (I grew up in the 80s, but I didn't have the poster) have disposable income, the desirability and prices will rise. I've been to several cocktail parties where I've had listen to how a guy has always desired a Testarossa, and when the kids are out of college...

Rudy, does this mean that Jacklyn Smith is on your list when the kids are out of college? MikeRudy van Daalen Wetters wrote:My Jacklyn Smith poster ended up covering my Testarossa poster.
The 80's just called and they want the posters back...

For my first Ferrari, nothing but a 12 would do...they were what I went nuts over from the sportscar mags of the '60s and the very rare real-life examples around in those days. The 308 and onward models were for the Magnum PI age group (I watched a total of one-half of one show). But then I turned 58 mid-November '07 and bought a Rosso Corsa 308 two weeks later.Michael Bayer wrote:Art: I agree, what is hot are the cars the new to being 50 year olds had on their walls as young teens, today those guys are buying 308s, not Ferrari 12s or American muscle cars. Good sense or deep-seated age-regression wish (midlife crisis)?

They are all over eBay, just search 'cosworth vega'
However, IIRC, the blocks are unlined aluminum, so they may not last as long as a 'normal' block.
I believe they were somewhere around 122 hp.
The Cosworth engine designation is EAA. Check out http://www.race-cars.com/utility/coswrthr.htm if you are curious about other goodies from Cosworth.

.....when my kids are off to college...I am getting a little more life insurance and purchasing a Ducati....!!!! I will drive across the country, or something stupid like that, perhaps recreating one of Peter Egan's stories from the Leanings book.
I do like Testarossas, but I am mostly bummed that I passed on that pre-war Lancia convertible. It was driven by Mussolini's army in Ethiopia, but the dark blue/red combo was super cool.
And...nota bene...did you see that GTE that sold in London for $255K (Sportscarmarket)? Crazy stuff...
