Looking at this from the point of view of the U.S., there is no awareness or appreciation of pre-1966 classic cars because they have disappeared from this country.

For decades there have been classified ads in every newspaper "Cars wanted: MG, Triumph, Jaguar, etc." - they were rounded up and sent overseas. While the cars here became bland late models, Tokyo started looking like a Main Street USA time warp...

Not only the younger generation has never seen a vintage Ferrari, they have never seen an XKE either - even the hot rods have ended up in Europe or Asia...
