Nardi steering wheel

Post by GAR 72 »

Hello,

Can anyone please enlighten me why some 330's have a black stripe ingrained in the steering wheel and some plain wood. Thanks,

Hi Gar,

In my best educated guess, it would have to do with how Nardi supplied these wheels and what their applications. My 330 America came with a wheel with the black stripe, and many series I 330s had this wheel. Later 330s had the wheel without the stripe. I'd imagine smaller wheels were installed on cars with power steering since less leverage was needed to turn the wheel. Needles to say, my car has the larg steering wheel!

I'm sure we'll get more informed people piping in on this one.

You are right about the smaller wheel on the cars equipped with P/S.

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure that the later wheels, including mine, are by Momo. Tom Y, you'll have to check on my wheel next time you are at Francois' shop, I think the mark is on the back of the bottom spoke.

Either way, the style changed part way through the 330 production run.

Someone I spoke to before said that those with a stripe had no power steering and those with P/S were plain. However, when I look at the pictures of different cars , this does not appear to be consistent. It would be nice if we can find out. Thanks

Gunn,

That is not correct - mine is plain and I do not have power steering.

Ok, then maybe it was an aesthetic option for the steering wheel
