Mystery part
Mystery part
Tom hasn't posted a mystery part lately. I found this one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/FERRARI-250-330-Abd ... dZViewItem
The literal translation using AltaVista:
Cover for?? 17 cm highly, 32 cm long (above), 26 cm down Chrome framework, inside aluminum sheet metal glued on steel sheet.
The aluminum looks to have the same pattern as the lower door panels on 330 GTs.

Tom S. got it right.
The rare piece is the little chromed sheet metal cover over the hole. It trims out the access hole for cars with electric windows. Most cars are missing this piece.
A close replacement for this panel comes from a '57 Chevy Belaire exterior side panel. Danchuk in CA. had a part number for us if you need raw, uncut panels.
More information than anyone needed!

Here is a rougher, but possibly more informative version:

I believe it is original. The previous owners did very little work on the interior of the car that didn't involve duct tape (see door arm rest). Is the interior original? Was the grill painted red at the factory?
Actually, most of us don't have much spare time because it is filled by figuring this stuff out! In this particular case, we spent a lot of time on this piece when we used members of this site to reproduce the background piece. It was a fun project. We should do something like that again. You guys have way tooooo much time on your hands but this stuff is still real fun to read.
It's interesting you said that. I met Paul Hill of Hill engineering in the U.K. when I was at Cavallino. He manufactures many newer Ferrari parts for Ricambi America but is open to ideas for the Vintage cars. I'm not sure if the exchange rate is to our favor, but if anyone has anything they think we should make, we should discuss a bulk order.Actually, most of us don't have much spare time because it is filled by figuring this stuff out!
