What a magnificent project, done with such careful attention to detail. The car -- and the unique owner's story -- will delight a lot of people in the Ferrari world.

Dear Yangsters,

It is on the truck headed West! I expect all of you who make it to Monterey and see the car to come up and introduce yourselves to "Team Mondial", we may even have a guest log book to sign. One last teaser shot entitled "Have we met before?" On the right is Bryan's and my car at the 2006 FCA National.

Don't worry, I'm on the sign crew for the tour. We always stop and help tour cars as we take down the signs. Have had to push start a couple over the years!

However, I hope to only see your car at the morning break and lunch.
I'm sorry to say that I did see the Admiral's car at the side of the road waiting for a flat bed. There was a shift linkage problem where 1st gear couldn't be selected and the car ahead stopped. Then the clutch was just burning trying to get the Admiral's car started in 2nd gear. So rather than burn out the clutch and risk the concours, it was better to call it quits on the tour.

I had a couple of pictures of the car being loaded on the flatbed, but managed to lose them when uploading from the camera.

The shift linkage was adjusted when the car got back to the trailer.
Regards, Kerry

Although I've already thanked the Admiral and his family for sharing a great win in class and Best Ferrari at Pebble Beach with us in Monterey, I wanted to say it again in this thread. As great of an achievement this was, I'm actually saddened about the fact that this thread may have come to an end! Now I know how people felt when I finished my car!

Our job now is to find someone else to step up and share their project with us!

Dear Yangsters,

This thread cannot come to an end without my expressing thanks to all of you who showed an interest in this old car of mine and the trials and tribulations encountered along the way to the finished product.

Attached photo is indicative of the kind of support I have received as you can see "Team Mondial" at work in giving me one last push to help save the clutch en route to the awards ramp to receive the truly unexpected trophies. Clearly an unforgettable moment for many of us.

From F-Chat

Hey Guys,

I stopped by FoW yesterday and mentioned to Redding that I will be attending the open house next week. He asked if I could please spread the word, that for those of you who are planning to go to the FoW Open House to see RADM Phillip's Mondial PLEASE send Redding an email letting him know you are coming.

The event is still FREE, but they would just like to get an idea of who's coming so they can plan for refreshments! Redding's email address is: rfinney@fwash.com

Looking forward to seeing you all next week!!

Hi Robert and Bryan,

How did the party go at FoW? I was the pictures on F-chat, and I am sorry I missed it.

Dear Tom,

Sorry that you were not there with us at FOW for the Open House, but given the opportunity to see Goodwood I cannot blame you for the choice. When it came time to push the car outside to see if it would start, Michael Bayer took over your pushing duties.

If you have not already seen it, there is a nice short clip at:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 7986606346

I would guess that there were over 100 people who took time out of their Saturday schedules to come see the blue beast and it was really a fan club gathering. As you so well know, the car in person is smaller and more stunning than in pictures and I could not be more pleased with the end result. Allie was so generous in allowing the use of his Race Prep facility and Redding was the complete host even going so far as to personally load up and deliver the car back home after David Carte had brought it in from the valley.

All in all a humbling experience to see so many people happy with the car that Bryan, HelenAnn, Michael, Bill and all of David's crew helped me bring to this point.

Enjoy Goodwood,

Best regards,

Robert

It was also nice to finally meet Jim Walker and his wife who were in town from Michigan. He didn't bring his big yellow car, though!

Thanks to the Admiral and Bryan for inviting us - and thanks to FOW for providing the venue. We had a great time seeing and LISTENING to the Mondial in all its glory.

Sounds like you all had a fantastic time, and I'm sorry I missed it.

Admiral, are you going to Cavallino?

Dear Tom,

At this moment my plans for showing the car involve Cavallino in January 2009, Reading in May 2009 and the FCA National at Eklhart Lake the end of July 2009. The last time my car was at Elkhart Lake was in the fall of 1959 and it had the differential seize at about the 200 mile point of the Road America 500. I hope it does not have a bad memory vibe from back then.

Best regards,

Robert
