air cleaner housing finish?

Post by Dan Sands »

Can someone tell me what the correct finish is for the air cleaner housing? I have seen photos of gloss, satin and wrinkle finish.
Thanks, Dan

The top and bottom plates should be a semi-gloss black, with the grille portion a dull nickel plate. Wrinkle finish is right out.

Hi Dan,

For a 365 cleaner with the snorkels, all the sheetmetal should be semigloss black.

The earlier cars with the open style air cleaner, the top and bottom plates should be semi-gloss black with the grille nickel, as David described. This requires one to send the bottom portion out for nickel plating and painting the bottom plate after it's plated.

Thanks guys,
It has the single inlet on the right side but I assume it is still semi gloss.

Correct, this is the late style for cold/warm inlet.
