Ansa Exhaust Sytems

Post by gsjohnson »

I am of the understanding that Ansa makes two different exhaust systems for the 330 GT. I'm being told that one system (original type) has the 3 muffler/resinators and the other only has 2 muffler/resinators and is somewhat louder. Is this true? Thanks in advance..

GS,

I am shopping for an exhaust system for my car at the moment. The only thing I have heard about Ansa is that thay are making mild steel and stainless systems. According to Lyle Tanner, who just called his contacts at Ansa for me, the mild steel systems are not going to be made anymore because of how quickly they rot away (mine lasted less than 10 years from new - which is pretty quick considering the price).

Francois does not like the aftermarket stainless systems due to their different exhaust note and, in his opinion, tendency for the internal baffles to break and rattle. When I presented the Stainless Ansa option, he said that he would think about it.

Both the 4Hl and 2HL parts book show the same exhaust system, 2 muffler/resinators. Old FAF parts catalog only have one entry for 330 GTs.

There were so many vagaries in the Ferrari world leaving an opening for people to just make stuff up...and of course sometimes they are right. Probably not in this case. Supposedly the earlier 330's came with Abarth exhausts, however I believe those also had the normal amount of resonators.

I bought a new set of ANSA rear sections for my 330 about a year after I acquired it. Even though I drilled weep holes in the pipes at their lowest points, the tip sections are ALREADY showing garage rot. My garage is heated in the winter and dehumidified in the summer. Fair warning, M

Michael,

Have you had the same problem with the C/4?
