Unfortunately with the rising prices of GTEs, so are the parts. 250 engines are getting very expensive, and the Ferrari factory is not helping with what they are charging for "certified" blocks. So getting involved with this car requires either you stick with a V-8, or pay $$$ to make it a non matching numbers GTE.

I believe the unusual high activity of this is based on the belief that s/n 2929 was Enzo's personal car. This is listed in the GTE registry as such a possibility.
Maybe a good crap shoot! Of course it would help if one knew the where abouts of the original supposed 4 liter engine fitted to it.

Wow! $33k with two days to go. I remember when this car was for sale about two years ago in Seattle. I think the guy wanted $17k. It was his brother's dream project, but unfortunately the brother passed away before completing it. Very sad story.

I spoke with the current owner, who seemed to be a nice, earnest person. He was very responsive and said the project is just too much for him. He would really prefer to see the car go to someone who can restore it with a correct V12.

I have pictures if anyone would like them.

I posted about the car here on Tom's site some time ago under: 1960 250 GTE "Project" S/N 2929

If its the grey one in pieces, it does look like a big project!

Is anyone surprised by the recent bid of $51K? And how much is due to the possible Enzo connection.

I'll bet the seller is doing handstands.
