Yes, timing the points together is crucial, and is best done on a Sun distributor machine. That way, the points can be checked for phasing, or the correct spacing in firing 6 cylinders, and dwell of each set of points. The strobe of the Sun machine shows where on the 360 degrees of markings where the points are firing. A small strip of paper is used to interrupt one set of points so you can see which points are firing while the distributor is turning.
