Who is going to Monterey?

Post by Tom Wilson »

Family life is such that I will not be attending most of the events, but I will be up for the Races on Saturday. I would love to connect with whoever else will be there that day. Are there any plans to meet at some point?

I will be bringing a friend, a 10 year old neighbor, so the opportunity to sit in a car and talk to the owner would be a real plus. Obviously a ride is not practical, but the opportunity to sit and dream would make his day (and mine!).

Hope to see you guys there

My neighbor (yet another Tom) and I will be flying in to San Jose at 8:30 and flying out again at 8:30. I figure we will be at Laguna Seca around 10:30. No plans after that, so I am open.

Mark, we can meet in Carmel or Monterey late afternoon, whatever works for you. I think that having little Tom's first ride in a Ferrari be in a Lusso would be just fine! If that doesn't make a convert to the vintage Ferrari faith, I don't know what will.

Bryan, will the Mondial be at the track? I would love to see it.

I look forward to seeing you all

no, the Mondial will not be at the track. Preparing for concours showing and preparing for racing are two entirely different exercises.

Tom W.

I will look for you at the track. I can only offer a ride in a nearby
Ralphs shopping cart...

The plan for me in to fly into San Jose and hitch a ride down to Monterey on Thursday with x10shl hopefully in something Ferrari. I'm going to try to get to Carmel to watch the cars drive in for the Pebble Beach Drive.

There's my Tomyang.net party in Monterey:
7pm Thursday night, Maraposa Motel on Munras.

Friday, Quail.
Saturday, Laguna
Sunday, Pebble Beach

All the time in between will be spent at auctions and meeting anyone who's in town!

Tom, I"ve tried to convince xs10shl to bring one of his cool cars down many times. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

BrianP - glad to see the Mondial will be doing the tour. I would rather see the cars in a more dynamic setting in Carmel on thursday, than a static, and expensive setting Sunday morning! I can't wait to see it!

I'll be camping at Laguna Seca Wed through Sunday in my 5th wheel. Anyone is welcome to stop by for a beer. I'll defintitely be at the TY party thursday night, and the races Saturday and part of Sunday. I have no plans on Friday - I couldnt' get Quail tickets and I'm tired of Concorso. I may still end up going as a spectator. Or maybe Vardanian will arrange a fun drive/beach bbq?

Tom's been working hard at getting a car ready for the drive south. I've got my fingers crossed, but there's no pressure from me...even though I've just publicly announced it on this site!

Keep me posted on Friday activities. I may be able to hook up with you guys after Quail.

A WARNING TO ALL OUT OF STATERS!!

As of July 1, it is illegal to talk on a cel phone while driving in California, unless you have a hands free device (like a headset). I know there will be lots of cel calls made to get directions and to arrange meetings, so bring your headset! The police are having a field day here....

Good point, Tom. I still catch myself not using a head set.
Police really watching this.

I wish NY the NY area police were more diligent. I see too many people talking on the phone W/O a headset while driving even though it's illegal. They do it because no one enforces the law!

O.K., I've just stepped down from my apple box.

A bit of good news -- the front suspension is almost on. That only leaves the rear suspension, the cooling system, the fuel system, and the ignition to sort . . . and I'm going to Maine next week.

Time pressure constraints require that I remove the non-functional rear areal from the list of to-dos.

Oh, yeah, looking promising . . . :^)
