Yang Gang Pebble Beach Gathering

Post by Michael Bayer »

Last night's Gathering hosted by Tom Shaughnessy and Tom Yang at Pebble was terrific! Great guys, great conversation and some wonderful old 12s to admire. Art was taking pictures and will hopefully post them soon. It did not end till well after 1130. Everyone is off to Quail and Concorso this morning, BrianP, Billy and I are going to help the Admiral prep the Mondial for Sunday. Thanks guys!!!

Picture credit goes to Art Lazanoff. I managed to lose the pictures I took when uploading to the laptop.

Thanks again, Toms !
I left early, after only 2 Coronas, and before my kids caused any damage. Had a great time chatting about V12s and the local scene.
I also enjoyed the subsequent Thai food outing, and the California unveiling.
In the complaint column was the Concorso show. Absolutely awful ambiance on the concrete, with one food tent, and a glass of warm wine for $15 (from a 2 buck chuck carton). If they keep it at the airport next year the attendance will be halved, and it was down already.

Filling in some blanks in the pic before last:
Yale, Steve V, Luke K, ?
I also see Jon A in a couple of pics (brown jacket, red shirt)

Photo Two, getting the solo ear bending from Tom is none other than the irrepressable Sir David Booth. He looks a little under the weather whilst balancing that wine bottle.

Say - did Kerry spill any beer this Year.

Sorry I missed All Y'all.

No, no beer spilled this year. Yale limited me to 2 beers, so couldn't afford to lose any!

that's me on the far right in the Yale, Steve V, Luke shot.

great party; really enjoyed meeting John Bishop who came from Melbourne for the big week.

met a guy in the parking lot who showed me the motor to his white Countach - gold-plated throttle linkage. I'm not kidding. Definitely a "car guy" - just a tad different from us, though.

Always a joy to see John V's PF Coupe in the flesh.

Hi Guys,

I did some more editing on the who's who.

I walked into my house at 3:00 am last night, so I'm just getting back online, but Wow! I had a GREAT time! There were some many things happening on so many levels it's going to take me some time to digest, and then share with everyone my perspective. First and foremost, I want to quickly congratulate the Phillips family on such a great achievement, and to thank them for allowing me to witness their glory first hand. We were all on the verge of tears when we watched the Mondial heading for the podium. BRAVO!

I'll try to get some posts going, but I need to spend some well missed quality time with my family!

Always a nice party, but it even seemed a little more lightly attended this year, as did many of the events. Brother Brent was definitely missed. And in the picture above, I'm not so much under the weather, but rather, wondering when Mr. Yang is going to take a breath so I can OPEN that bottle of Syrah... Tom Meadows was standing just out of frame, paper cup in hand, expectant look on face.

To be correct - John Asp is actually Jon Alff.
