Brake Lights ???
Brake Lights ???
Have totally cleaned and checked my fuse box and all connections and fuses are working. Have checked the rear light bulbs and they are good. Running lights are working (when I turn on the 'L' switch) as are the turn signals but I cannot get the brake lights to come on when I press the brake pedal. Because the running lights on the same bulb are working it leads me to believe that perhaps it is a bad brake light switch if there is such an animal in the car. Can anyone suggest what I should do next to figure out what the problem is? Is there a break light switch around the brake pedal and if so exactly where is it??? Help!

The brake switch is a hydraulic one. On a series 2, it's in the front lines, near the front member. Don't know where it might be on an interim car.
If the thread is small, it can be replaced with a VW switch, available for a few bucks at your local auto parts store. If it's a large thread, you'll have to go to Rutland's or some other Ferrari parts place for the correct replacement.

Kerry, found it! It is exactly where you said it is on a series II car. Thought I would let other know were to look for it if they too have a interim series I. Guess that is yet another change in the interim cars. Brake lights still don't come on when I bridge the wires on the sending unit though. I suspect that one of the prior owners did some rewiring of the car. Hence the reason why the lights and windows work without the key in the ignition. I know the brake light fixture and bulbs work because the second filament lights when I bridge it to the running light filament. I suspect either a short or loss of connection between the sending unit and brake light or something having to do with the wiring job. It's never easy with these cars, is it. But I guess it is these kinds of puzzles that make it fun (kinda) but sometimes I could use less fun! Thanks guys.330GT wrote:The brake switch is a hydraulic one. I have one but I can't figure out how to upload it to the site. Can someone point me in the right direction?kare wrote:Anyone has a picture of this type of brake light switch? I'm just curious as I have bought a few Italian switches with no idea what they belong to. One or two may as well be the swtich that was used in 330GT...
Best wishes, Kare

Hi Kevin,
There's a "Sticky" at the top of this forum that titled "how to post pictures on this forum."

It should explain how to post to this an any other Forum on the internet.
