Throttle Linkage Detail

Post by gsjohnson » Thu Oct 02, 2008 3:15 pm

Here's a pic of my throttle linkage. Is this detailed properly? Anything else that seems out of place? Thanks

What is that chicken wire doing on those carbs?

It's to stop small birds and rodents from getting sucked in at WOT! ;-)

Not Stock.

GS,

Everything seems to be in order, but if you want me to nit pick, I believe the nuts holding the throttle rod bearings should be black oxide, and the Ferrari Logo should be Black wrinkle like the rest of the cam cover.

I also think the blue hose that goes from the brake reservoirs to the M/C should be black. If you want to change the color "down and dirty," you can take them off and spray paint them with flat black paint. The cloth will absorb the paint and look fine.

Yea I noted the chicken wire as well, which I will remove...lol. I have 3 small air filters inside the large oval air claeaner assemby that appear pretty dirty. Can someone direct me to source for them as well?
I'll work on the hoses...
I was waiting for the sarcasm about the location of the distributor cap...
Thanks

GS,

I was about to comment on the cap, since you claimed to be
down on power. It took a lot of restraint...

Tom Y,

I'm sorry for the double post. I posted, then moved on to other threads. When I hit the back button too many times, it reposted again.

I looked up one or two other 330s and have seen the error of my ways. I thought all the V12s had the same throttle linkage geometry.

Another point to make is about the nuts that hold the air filter assembly in place. Originally, I believe they came with washers and nylock nuts. We usually eliminate the washers and use only the nylock nuts. There is usually enough material for the nuts to hold down the air cleaner. Eliminating the washers lessens the chance of having a one fall down into a carburetor. That would be bad.

As far as air cleaners are concerned, go to your most friendly auto parts store, and start looking among the boxes!

That is exactly what I did. I took my air filters to a local parts store
and had them match them up. Not 100% but close enough, they work
great. Dirt cheap, made my day.

Do the Interim cars have open or closed air cleaners, and are they the same filter?

Interim cars have the Series II closed air cleaner with three small air filters. I don't know if they use the same air filters as the Series I individual open style air cleaners.

The 2148 filters should fit both the older style and the later S2 air cleaner assembly.
