My 330 GT Engine To Be Rebuilt

Went to Stephen's house Saturday to check on the progress. I received the 1967 Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio- looks great. Got an iPod adapter. The AA-13 license plates turned out well. The undercarriage has been finished. All the years of gunk are gone and it has been repainted. The transmission tunnel got new insulation and the shifter boot. The seats came back and look nice! the perforations match the rest of the interior. The bottom of the doors are carpeted (looks original) as opposed to the foil and I dont believe the seats had foil either. Remember this car has many special features. You can see shelves of parts that are done or need refinishing. We are simply restoring all the original pieces- there is only a fairly short new part list. We have the material for the hood pad and will have the upoulsterer make the correct diamond pattern. the engine bay has been primed and cleaned. We found the chassis serial number- the car has all matching numbers. You can see the interior is all apart- but will be together soon!

Overall I am pleased with the balance of the resto. We are cleaning and refinishing only what needed to be done (admittedly alot), and reusing almost all the original parts. Of course the engine will receive all new internal parts. I believe we are tending to things that needed to be done, ie beyond patina and by keeping as much as possible original (albeit refinishing), I dont think we are violating the "bones" of the car.

More progress on car. We've decided to place an MSD ignition. I think I will go with ANSA exhaust (and cross my fingers about longevity) as I want the proper sound. We are getting a repro battery and getting Magnetti Marelli sticker from Parker Hall. We've sourced a NOS windshield washer bag. The horns have been redone. We got new light lenses. Everything will be functional. The heater system has been restored. Still a way off from completion but I am getting excited!
