Post by afwrench »

Hope everyone has a great holiday. We can all be thankfull for this community of generous people who are always so willing to help. Also to Tom for all his efforts. To those folks on the board who have not experienced an American Thanksgiving, plan a visit around this time and we will fill you up with traditional comfort food!!! All the best ,Mike

Everyday we have something to be thankful for, but it's nice to have a day to be thankful for turkey!

Have a great Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there, and to everyone else...have a nice Thursday.

At this time we are all challenged, but it is nice to have a day to remember the good things we all have. Happy Thanksgiving everyone

And a Happy one to everybody.

Do you know why turkey became the special food for Thanksgiving?

The Indians came to the Pilgrims on the Monday and invited them to their yearly harvest festival on the following Sunday. They said this is a very special festival for us to celebrate a fine year of good hunting and good planting. We will have roast wild boar and venison, corn on the cob, sweet yams, all the fruits and berries from the forest and a special bread we bake from corn meal. If our hunters are lucky this week, we may even be able to serve bear. We will have music and dancing and the whole tribe will be there.

The Pilgrims said this is a very generous offer and we would love to come help you celebrate the harvest. But, Sunday is a special religious day for us and we will have to be in church all day. How about we come over on Thursday instead.

The Indians said Thursday would be fine, BUT - we are just having Turkey that day.
