250 America engine support needed
250 America engine support needed
Hello!
I am looking for the engine support to fit my 330 GT engine #6559 in my 250GTE #3905GT. Please see the drawing, part number 77. I have never seen this part, a drawing of this part would be fine, a used pattern would be the best.
Thanks
Hein

I thought so too. This is hardly going to help you at all, but it is interesting that the very first GTEs used front engine supports that attach to the frame with two bolts. It was soon replaced with what you will likely find on your chassis.
Maybe David (Booth) can help you by showing how his engine was installed (his GT/E is using a 330-engine...)
Best wishes, Kare

Hein, I am not clear which part you are looking at. I am in the midst of a similar application and would appreciate any helpful hints.
David, I would very much like to see your installation. Any scale drawings showing mount locations, etc...
Thanks, Rad

Re: 250 America engine support needed
If it's any help, I had those mounting plates for my 330 engine in my car.

Hello!
I did some measurements on the GTE chassis and on the 330 engine block. I don´t know how to put the 330 engine in the car. I was told that I have to weld new motor mounts, other people say that I can use the brackets which are in the 330 parts book. I would really like to see how it works in a 330 America!!!!!
Please see my fantastic drawing.
Thanks
Hein

Hein:
An adapter of the sort you have sketched is most definitely required.

Hello Rudy !
You might be right. Here you see 2 nice things which I have in my head.
I seems that my fantastic drawing is not clear.
The distance between the rear mounting points in the unmodified GTE chassis is 410mm. The distance on the 330GT engine is 435mm. The mounting points can be easily modified to 435mm.
The distance between the front mounting points is 360mm on the 250 chassis and on the 330 engine block.
The distance between the front and rear engine mountings is 450mm on the 250 chassis. On the 330 engine it is only 370 mm, so I think that the brackets in the 330 parts catalogue would help to solve this problem.
I don´t want to modify the chassis, because it is totally original, crashfree and straight.
Any help would be nice!
Thanks
Hein
