Re: Bonhams auction in Gstaad
That seems about right ($130,000 USD) for an early production, presentable GTE in today's troubled economy. A couple of nicely restored GTE's have sold for $160,000 to $200,000 in 2008.
Bruce Marquand (Restoration Manager - Symbolic Motorcars) says that a good restoration in their shop costs $200,000 and a Pebble Beach "Best of Show" type restoration is $400,000.

Great color! Some poor details on the engine though; red plug wires and a hammertone brake reservoir. Is the bottle next to the brake booster for windshield washer fluid? If so, shouldn't that be a black bag. Also has a 3D Prancing Horse, another pet peeve of mine. However, if you can afford $175,000 to buy the car, you can probably fix a few things.

Steve - That's 150,000 Swiss Franks (130,000 without sales costs). I believe that would be about $175,000 / $150,000 US.

Tom - actually, check your math again. 150,800 CHF x .85 = $128,821. So the approximate $130K price in US Dollars was INCLUSIVE of Buyer's Premium.

Re: Bonhams auction in Gstaad
I often confuse the math, so since my daughter is going to school in Scotland, I got an iPhone app that is a currency converter. It says that as of today $1.00 = 0.86 CHF. Therefore, the dollar number should be larger than the Franc number. I think you have to divide by 0.86, not multiply. Anyway, it says that 150,800 CHF = $175,350.23.

Re: Bonhams auction in Gstaad
Looks like I gotta eat some crow along with those Hot Dogs! There seems to be a button on my converter called "Inverse Conversion" which makes things go the wrong way. Don't know why you would want that, but I know now that I don't ever want to do that again. Makes me want to go back and check those tuition payments!
Steve... My apologies. $130,000 it is.
