Parking brake cable
Has anyone found a replacement brand or company for the parking brake cable?

Re: Parking brake cable
Ed - You could try GT Car Parts here in Phoenix. Not the most pleasant people to deal with, but they did have the inner cable and cable housing by the foot for my car.
Re: Parking brake cable
I bought 14' of 5/32 stainless steel cable from a Marine Hardware store
to renew my parking brakes. I make little oblong ends out of steel with
a central hole for the cable and silver soldered the cable to the ends
after fitting things together. These are the ends that fit into the brake assembly.

Re: Parking brake cable
Like Lowel said, you're better off fabricating a new cable from scratch.enio45 wrote:Has anyone found a replacement brand or company for the parking brake cable?

Re: Parking brake cable
I needed to replace the handbrake cable housing on my Lusso. It took a lot of searching to find the 3mm ID housing, but finally the local Yamaha dealer directed me to MotionPro (motionpro.com) Cables. I was able to buy 10 feet of 3 mm cable housing and 4 end caps for $30. They will fabricate custom cables.
Since the adjusters were backed out almost all the way, I cut the stops off the cable, drilled out the cable from the stops, and reassembled everything, silver soldering the original stops on the original cable to fit into the clevises after threading the cable through the new housing and original adjusters.
