Perhaps not yet....find some old soda cans and blast away.
Then, go outsmart that window motor, it's too simple to get

Boy, I'm good! I took apart the Ducellier motor, cleaned it up, lubed the hemispherical bearings on the ends, and put it back together.
It doesn't screech anymore. In fact, it doesn't run at all - it just grunts when I put 12V to it.
I'll have to do it all over again. At least it will be a cleaner job the next time.
The Thunderbird motor is still better than the Ducellier motor ever was. Do you think the judge will dock me points for having a power window that works in an un-Ferrari manner?

OK, I found that the Ford PW motor I'd put in the car back in April, having worked 30 times or so, had given up the ghost. When out of the car and hooked to a 12V source, the ground wire of the motor became super hot, melting it's own sheath instantly. I put in another motor yesterday and it works great, but so did its sibling months ago.
In my car, the 3 wires that provide power to the 4 wire motor (the 4th is the motor's ground) emerge from under the dash, and through the door. One simply wires the motor to these wires and, viola, you have working power windows. (yes, I really did say "viola"...we've been through this before!) So far so good. But there's also a 3 terminal block, mounted to the door, which has a ground wire and another wire that runs to some little device inside the door, outboard, for which I find no use. What am I missing here? I've just ignored this 3 terminal block, as in my current setup (yes, pun intended, tho' revolting), everything seems to work well. The current draw at the fuse block is 10-11amps, which seems reasonable to me. Just wondering if my choice of ignoring the 3 terminal block maybe related to the recent PW motor failure. Not sure why that would be, but would appreciate any help. thanx steve meltzer "when you're up to your ass in

I'd would be grateful for any input on the above post. Here's an update, and thus my consternation: I drove the car this AM and the (new/rebuilt Ford) motor does seem to work, better going down than up. However, with minimal use, the finger switch going up felt "sticky" and the motor was slow. Since I'd left the panel off, I could feel the motor and with just that minimal use, it was very hot. Clearly, something's not right here. I think it has to do with my bypassing the little three terminal block attached the inside fo the door. What does this thing do, and how do I corporate that in my wiring? thanx s

Hi Steve,
I'm not claiming to know how to fix your problem, but I wanted to think this through with you and others on this site to try figure out what's going on. 12 volts going to the motor should not heat things up like you described that quickly unless that motor is not rated to run on 12 volts. Have you metered the leads to the motor to see if there is any current going to the motor even without the switch being moved? Does anyone know if there were limiting switches in a GTC window mechanism?
