Blower ducting material

Post by h00kem »

Anyone know a source of replacement ducting material? I am looking for the smaller duct material (about 2.5" diameter) that connects the heater boxes to interior vents. Help!

Don't know about original looking replacement, but most auto parts stores have flex paper/aluminum tubing in different diameters, mainly used for the heat riser to prevent icing in carbs. I found the right size to replace one on my 330 GT.

I know that re-originals has them as well....and as Kerry stated there are alternatives.

I assume these are the tan or brown paper type material your talking about?

Keep me posted on what you find, as ill need some myself - and ill check a source out of florida that i bought the heater blower tubing from the blower motor in the front fenderwells to the heater boxes.

Thanks very much Ed. I found some material at Car Parts on the web. The original ducting in spiral covered in paper. The Car Parts ducting won't be OEM as it is spiral covered in a rubberized materials but I'm not really worried about being exact given my restoration is targeted at creating a good driver level car. I'm more interested in putting something in that won't need replacement in 15 years! I'll let you know if the material I received in of reasonable quality. They had all different sizes too. I believe the smaller ducts coming out of the back of the heat exchangers and into the car are 2.25". Obviously the ones from the blowers to the heat exhangers are larger and look to be more like 3"-4". Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I believe with Pininfarina built cars, they used a cloth covered spiral wound hose, at least this is true with the 250 series cars. Does anyone know if they changed this with the 330s? Paper hose with an aluminum substrate was found on Lussos (Scaglietti built).

If you end up needing the 4 inch stuff, First Generation Corvettes use a fresh air hose that is an exact replacement of the original stuff on the GTEs.

I'd be interested in what you find from Car parts.
