OK thanks guys - this is the way im going....ill keep the orig one on the shelf.

I also put new positive and negative cables on the car - so we should have plenty of strong connections and battery power.

Now over to the alternator.....what to do ?????

Yes , use hem now for 4-5 years without any hasitation.
I bought a third one as a spare, I was a bit sceptical in the beginning after only reeding.
But it has long life garantee . so it can be so bad.
I used it in the Sierra Nevada( Spain) at +45degrees and in Norway/Finnland minus 25 degrees........ perfect
One was send with the wrong adaptor. threads not in line, they send out of Sweden within
three days a new one perfect aftersale.
see pics below 1+2 ( adater 330 in the front)
placed later the heath schield ,it was visable at mine.

I think,I manage to make smaller files
Welll there is hope .
Morbus Alzheimer starts normallly at 65 or later, so a still enough time left ! (Humor)

Important:
Oh, I make ALWAYS an extra earth wireing from chassis to starter to avoid warming up the Ceam starter switch.

Its only a hobby here.

The sound is very different from the grrr-rrr-rrr sound of the Marelli unit, so it does change the character of the car as well.

I just changed my 330 starter to the gear reduction model. Here are sound clips of both the old and new starters.
