Side vent - which direction?

Post by h00kem »

I am reassembling my series 1 330gt. I'm trying to figure out the proper direction of the side vents. Using the driver side for my example I know that they directionally slant like this \\\ \\ \\\ . I would guess that the vents are more decoration than functional as the only item in the space that they vent are the heater boxes. My question is are they supposed to be turned so they vent air from the side of the car into the space or vent air out of the space? I cannot tell from pictures on the net as they do not show enough detail. The answer will tell me which vent goes to which side. Help!

I believe they are supposed to extract air out of the engine compartment. The high pressure area is from the front of the car by the grille, with the air escaping though this vent area and all the other areas behind the grille.
