Need a Windshield Gasket for a GTE and fast!!!!

Post by william »

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a front windshield gasket for my GTE. I bought one from GT Car Parts and it is to big for the glass and opening. The top of the gasket is pretty close in dimension but the bottom is way to long and the height of the gasket is to tall. I'm not sure but maybe this gasket belongs to a 330,365, etc...Further I ordered a 2nd gasket from Partscource. It arrived today but came in the same box and was labeled the same as the one I received from GT Car Parts. You guessed it, it too is to big..same gasket. I spoke to Matt Jones at reorginals today and he has no GTE gaskets in stock and can order one from Italy. Only problem, Matt is thinking around two weeks before it will arrive to the US. My goal was to drive the car to FCA Elkhart Lake in about two weeks...

My windshield is a reproduction, but I'm pretty sure it's not that far out of tolerance. Further, the gasket is way to big for the windshield opening around the pinch weld.

I measured the dimensions of my glass tonight and was wondering if anyone has a 330 glass out of there car or has access to one and can give me some measurements. I would like to figure out just what these gaskets fit?

Anyone have a GTE windshield gasket laying around they would like to sell? or know of one?

Thanks for your help

The windshield on my 330 GT is ~52" top, 65" bottom and 21" on the sides. These are outside corner to outside corner measurements.

If the rubber profile is correct, you can cut it down. The rubber guys just use super glue (Cyanoacrylate) for the corners. See http://www.metrommp.com/install_tip_general.htm for some tips. For cutting rubber, I've found the Accu-Cut from Sears (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00937310000P) to be excellent.
