The two times I've seen blow up oil filters were both in cold weather, so I'm trying to figure out if may also be attributable to thicker oil. One was a Fram, and the other one was a white canister (Wix or UFI).

Tom
Total SILLY Tom I am so sorry for you.
there is no influence, when using an more thiner oil.
only you Marelli MT21 starter will love it .
20W-50 is here only available at special schops
and cost a fortune.
I use 10W-40 half syntatic Mobiloil.
can only be used on overhauld engine !
Other wise the old sludge can be solved and circutaling.

Just kidding..............maybe!!!

PS Are you still an American citizen? That may influence my decision.
Don't mess with me, Mark. I'm not as lightweight as you might think. I'll sic my buddies Sean Hannity and Glen Beck on you. They like to chew up beltway liberals.

Yes, I'm still an American and will always be an American until the day I die. I've even got a brand new passport. I am not a Canadian citizen. I'm a resident alien in Canada.

Actually I was born and raised in Southeast Missouri near the Mississippi river, farther South than you live now. I suppose you never noticed the resemblance to Samuel Clemens (The Missouri Mark). It must have something to do with all us Missourians having the same DNA (my apologies to other Missourians).

Its only a bad quality question.
But for those who stay under the 4000 rpm no trouble
But I seam to be a preacher in the dessert ..... no problem.
As soon as you frontscreen is turning out the daylight everybody will be convinced.

Cornelis,

Sometimes you write in a sort of Haiku, or a koan:

But for those who stay under the 4000 rpm no trouble
But I seam to be a preacher in the dessert ..... no problem.
As soon as you frontscreen is turning out the daylight everybody will be convinced.

What the hell? Who stays under 4000?
We have deserts and preachers here, both aplenty and they are not mutually exclusive.
Now we get to "Frontscreens and Daylight". Perhaps this is the title of your upcoming English language novel about unusual Ferrari ownership experiences over the years or....?

All the best,

I like the phrase "frontscreen is turning out the daylight"! Pretty good description of an exploding oil filter if you ask me...

But I have to agree with Yale on one point; where's the fun in staying under 4,000 rpm?

Hi Yale,

Nice to see you don't belong to the category which I call:
--------------Few minds wear out; more rust out-------------
About writing old expierances,
I must first find out , how to get old analog pics in to digital.
maybe it comes.
More about 4000 rpm tomorrow.
Turn and Push that switch.

Sorry to take this thread back to Cavallino, but I still have a few questions:

1. Are we having a TomYang.net gathering and if so, where and when?
2. If the wife and one kid are coming and I cannot afford the Breakers, where would you suggest we stay?
3. Who is bringing their GTE?
4. Who is coming without their GTE (in addition to me)?
5. Who is giving the GTE talk?

It sounds like fun and I am trying my best to attend.

Hi Tom,

I hope to have a Tomyang.net party on Friday night before Cavallino on Saturday.
Parker is working on the GTE talk. I nominate Alan Boe, and Parker.

Tom W. - I would recommend this place if you want to stay on the island within walking distance of the Breakers without breaking the bank:
http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-327750- ... ch_hotel-i
I used to live there in the mid 1980's, and it is a bit nicer now. Not too fancy, but a great location, and a historical place that has a good Palm Beach feel to it.
Much mnore interesting than the typical Hampton / Marriot route.
If you want a more modern place I'd go with the Marriot Palm Beach Gardens

The entry form for 2010 Cavallino Classic is now on-line at the Cavallino magazine site below.

http://www.cavallino.com/cavallino_2010 ... no_cache=1&

I'm still trying to work out the logistics of taking my sending my wife to meet me and getting her family travelling companions to make a committment to go with her so I can book everything.

Who's planning to drive down to Cavallino Classic? The last I heard, our snowballing convoy (literally and figuratively) consisted of me in my 365 GT 2+2, Tom Yang in his 330 America, and Mark Dempsey in his 365 GT 2+2. Anyone else tempted to join in?

Oops! Make that "sending my wife to meet me ..." instead of "taking my sending my wife ..."

Tom, don't we have an edit key?

Ok guys, its time to get my act together for Cavallino (if not too late). Sounds like getting there Wednesday and leaving Sunday is the plan. As far as I know the schedule is as follows:

Thursday: Vintage Tour
Thursday: Vintage Races
Friday: Vintage Races
Friday: Tom Yang BBQ
Saturday: Cavallino Classic
Sunday: Mar A Largo Event

What is the plan for the gang driving down the east coast? Is anybody joining Tom Yang, Mark Dempsey and Tom Kizer?

When are the GTE talks? Where do I get tickets? Is there anything else I need to know about?

Wow, I now feel like I know less about this event than when I started this message...

Hi Tom,

The seminars are usually held on Thursday morning at the Breakers. Parker would be the guy to ask about who's talking.

I'm still planning on driving my car down, but there are some feelings of cold feet (literally and figuratively) that I'm working with! Stay tuned!

Cold feet here!

My Queen is going to Florida, either on her wheels or on a trailer as far as Maryland and on her wheels the rest of the way. An open trailer is not problem and a good friend is exploring the insurance aspects of lending me his Sport Ute to tow it. Tom Y, I'm planning to be at your place for Sunday night, Jan 17. Since you've done these things before, you can lead the rest of the trip. If I'm towing, I'll leave the equipment at Mark's place and drive the Queen from there.

Sounds like this is going to be a great trip for the travelling 12's....
I've got the garage cleaned up, lots of nice pictures on the wall, space for four visiting Ferraris. Looking forward to a great week of Ferrari related events. Tom, if you are going to have your car detailed you are welcome to have it done at our house, and borrow my truck if you need to go somewhere while it is being worked on. I think trailering down to Maryland is a great idea.
The track day is my favorite.
