'Daytona' wheels

Post by klv »

Hi guys
I did a quick search through the forum but didn't find the answer. We have the opportunity to get some 7 x 15 'Daytona' wheels and wanted to check that they fit a 365GT Ok in terms of offset etc. Are those style wheels the same as fitted as options on the 365GT?

Cheers

But we don't want him to jump in and buy them! 5 wheels not been on a car for 30 years and at what we think is a bargain price... :) That is assuming that he accepts that there is life east of the Californian border...

The Daytona and C4 7 1/2 x 15" rims are the same, (some Daytonas came with 9" rears), the early Queens came with rims that look like the 330 GTCs, later cars with the Daytona/C4 rims, and there is that who;le thing about straight vs bent ear knock offs also

Thanks guys. Going to check them on Sat am. I've learnt that you measure rim width on the inside of the rim recently, so I will take a tape measure. The guy had them fitted on an Aston DB6 for a while way back in the 1970s & 80s...

Hello all.
Picked up the wheels this weekend. They are actually 7 1/2 x 15 and have been stored for the last 30 or so years. Will get them cleaned/blasted and refinished. They are impressively light, especially compared to the Borrani wheels! A couple of questions.
1) Any suggestions on coating/refinishing the centre components i.e. the spline and the 'outer ring'?
2) What torque should the bolts holding the spline and outer ring together be done up to?
3) Outer chrome trim rings are a bit corroded in places. Should we try and find new ones or good secondhand ones or just be guided by chrome plater?
4) What is the official colour to refinish the wheels in?
5) Anything else I might have missed?
Pic of the wheels attached. Would be interested to get a 'value guide' from you guys as to what they are worth!

In Noosa they'd be worth 50 bucks.

Kelly,
Here's a cut and paste of one of my old 2008 posts on the subject of valve stems for 365 GT 2+2s.

Google "Myers Tire Supply" and download their full line catalog. You will find on page 18, TR416 Clamp-In Tubeless Metal Valves for 0.625 inch holes. They seem to be just like the original stems that came in the 365 GT wheels.

I bought mine at a heavy truck supply store. They were cheap - $2 or $3 each.

Hi all - thanks for the tips to date. Main query at this stage is regarding the 'chrome' plates that cover the bolts that hold the hub sections together. Have they been remade or do people replate them. Ours are quite corroded in places and I don't know how well they will come up if we take them to a plating shop.

BTW - just back from a visit to DK Engineering. Lots of interesting machinery on show - will have pics sorted in a little while.

Cheers
