Hi Guys,
I was having a conversation with Karps brake service and I heard a very interesting theory on SAE, Metric, and Whitworth measurements and I wanted to know if anyone here heard of this. Ron said his Dad was in WWII and one main reason countries kept to the different measurements was so military equipment could not be cross compatible. This was one of those theories that made all the sense in the world, and yet never occurred to me!
Any of you guys hear of this theory? I know ammunition was sized in this way, so why wouldn't it be the same with nuts, bolts, and brake master cylinders?
Tom

Re: Eureka Moment
Naw, no truth there at all. It's like claiming Mercedes and Nissan use different suspension arms so they couldn't be cross-fitted. Even the Luftwaffe flew using many imperial thingies as that's what they had been using since day one. Best wishes, Kare
