Compatible parts for early ferrari's

Post by 250GT »

All Merc 300SL owners have an easy life, 300SL Gullwing or 300SL Cabrio.
One phone call and a few coins, the desired part is within 24 hours on you desk
Since ferrari Classisch started this hugh fresh replacement part store , we still must find our OWN way to keep them running.
I did got several questions from guest on TY -side, about the brakelight switch in the past.
This part is -even at mine place-10 or more years not availabe and often broken.
the one that suits and work comes from a Fiat Topolino.
This is almost looking the same ,but not perfect similair.
But as long the FCA and PB judges have not the anti terror mirrors , every vintage F-car owner can sleep without stress
Have those Merc .people no frustrations?
Well they must live there whole life with the fact:
Wherever a 250GT(TDF) appears in the same race
They never were able to win !! .
good hunting.

P.S. Will show some more in the future

Hi Cornelis,

When rumors first started about Ferrari Classiche, we hoped it would be as open and convenient as the Mercedes Program. That has yet to be seen.

well, those ati-terrorist mirrors would not work with Ferrari's anyway, too many short skirts nearby. The PB judges would get distracted.

The MB folks are'nt such a bad lot, they enjoy a self satisfied existence with "einspritzung" leading the way. From what I can tell MB actually likes their Gullwing people. Every year @PB they invite the Gullwing crowd to an MB sponsored dinner and other well appointed functions. This of course is somewhat of contrast to the Ferrari folks that offer wine and cheese in their Renzo Piano designed tent served with a healthy slice of advertising: "can I put you down on the list for a new California?" Oh, you want parts? Have another cracker and cheese.

By the way Cornelis, will you be joining us at PB this jahre?

hello Mark,
If I will come to PB sometime, I will let you know.
I always compare such shows as looking to soft porno.

Its not the real thing.

What interesing is, are the PEOPLE behind the cars ,the food ,climate , enjoyable time etc
but the best cars are standing in you're own gerage.
even if its still an restoration object.

That's exactly why I try to schedule something interesting to do whenever I'm attending one of these events from drives to shop visits. Seeing shiny cars on lawns is my least favorite activity, but speaking the owners is good fun.

Dear Tom,

How about shiny little blue cars on ramps?

Best regards,

Well Cornelis:

Let us know when you intend to join us. We may need to have a bottle of Schnapps at the Tom Yang event and we can raise a glass to the MB folks.
Will you have mirrors on the toes of your shoes?

Otherwise, we can meet in Maranello and stage a Classiche Protest, which is much more agreeable than protesting in Egypt, due to the fact that the wine is better and that the automatic weapons are in the form of credit card readers.

Cheers

Hi Cornelis, you nailed it: "soft porno"

I got something in the mail a few weeks ago with a code number that you enter in the computer and if you are lucky you'll win the big lottery, you get to buy tickets to "The Quail". What a load of crap.

Mark and John,
I should maybe better have use the word "Peepshow"
"A Ferrari must be enjoyed with all your senses!
well that blue juwel can be touch at least.
But that word peepshow comes up to me not in the right moment.
I could collect some background info out of those days by visiting
in Italy the old body shop owners.
but they dont live fore ever.
A lot have been gone already
the next one my list is Graham Gould who lives in the sound of France.
The first step have been made
see also the link below.
he was a journalist in the early 60th.
The book below is an fantastic timemachine in those times
a must for every body here .
ISBN 0-7603-0735-0
Dont look at those carb !. the book is the star.
Order now !
Graham will love you.
with a good box of red wine and a classic car in front of his house
Will relax every Britisch stiff upperlip I hope.

FYI, I have and do restore and work on older M-B products including 300SLs and 280SE Cabs Etc. All the parts for these cars are not as easy to obtain as you might think. In fact there are fair amount of parts NLA either from the factory or aftermarket. I even have access to the M-B parts catalog on line that goes back to pre-war, but a large amount of parts are not available.

I met Graham a few years ago when he was visiting friends in Connecticut. He was quite a nice guy and seemed shocked to meet anyone who had bought his book as I had.

Second replacement part
I was always very dissappointed about the achievement of the old Magneti Marrelli starter
MT 21 A-H l,M,N.P,Q,R and S
you can find them from early 250, 275,330 till 365 Daytona and 400i Iso, lambo etc
in the mid 90th I found a solution to make these old starter better than new .
the repair of an not running one can do every normal shop
But they replace and clean only a few things not the electric field etc
this is not a new one when you got it back.
but every thing wears
I did have problems to restart after a fuel stop when the motor had huge heat accumulation
in the south of France or Italy where 100F is not an exception or 39 degrees C.
this was vaporisation of course. no fuel-liquide that could reached the carbs by turning to slow.
I landed in Liverno near Pisa in an Marelli shop who repaired FarmerTractors !
they had a big Marelli billboard out side.
after I showed two old MT 21 F starters he came back with two brand new ones.
BUT with the ISKRA logo on them.
these were produced in Yugoslavia(now Slowenia) for diesel agrar tractors
But are the same as for MT21 but Much stronger 2.7 KW !!!!
Every thing fitts to the ALU orghead.
so you can take every thing back with the right starter Head.
and an original looking starter is finisched.
Now adays I have replaced them with these high gearJapan staters cost about 450 dollar.
they do it even better
so its up to you
type
ISKRA AZJ 3123 12V 2.7 KW Z9

Good hunting
Iskra has a distributionsytem in Europe now.
Do I tell the professional shops too much?

Its only a hobby here
