330 GTC window switch

Post by todaxyz »

Hi,
My electric window switch stopped working. Does anyone know if these are rebuilt and if so, any recommendations? Or, are reproductions the way to go and if so, where to buy. This is the standard black switch with a chrome rectangle bezal with FISPA on one side and DUCELLIER on the other. Also, curious if these were used on other cars of the period to help cross reference for replacement parts.

Thanks, Tom

I found out today that Patrick Otis Co. in Berkeley rebuilds these so off it went.

Tom,
I use these from Ducellier but available at Renault.
These are identical , but your old chrom/alu surround must be put back
not so difficult.
The part number of these Renault Alpine : old emballage below.

perfect matching ( even for Craig and Zac)

P.S

Maybe this answer can be placed in mine compatible thread for old Ferraris too.

Thanks for taking the time to show your switch and posting all the pictures. However, the 330 GTC switch looks different from those in your picture. Yours are 'rocker' style while the GTC has a tab that sticks up in the middle that you use to push up/down. I do think it's a matter of cleaning the contacts on the inside as you suggest, but mine does not have the metal tabs on the bezel that hold the switch body in place like in your pictures. There is 1 screw on the backside that I took off, but all that did was make the switch become loose and flop around. With the screw attached, the switch is spring loaded so always returns to the middle position. I tried pulling and tugging and sliding a screw driver blade along the edge of the body prying ever so gently. I finally decided it wasn't worth trying to force it apart and risk breaking something so I sent it out for repair.

I recieved the switch yesterday so it was a quick 1 day turnaround. As suspected, it needed to be disassembled, contacts cleaned and tightened up. Installed it last night and works like a champ! Charge was a 1 hr shop rate, which considering the alternatives of trying to find a replacement, was reasonable.
