Post by 365gtc/4 »

I know it is early but who is planning to go with or without a proper car?

Hi John,

I plan to be there with my daughter again. I do not think at this moment my C/4 will make the trip but you never know.

Cheers,

Sam. I hope to see you and your daughter there. It should be fun. What about Michael B, Bryan P, Ricky Bobby and Mark D? Mark should get that hog hauler out of the barn and spoil the old girl on a bit of black top for a change !! (Zac told me about Mark's recent coast to coast jaunt in the old girl. Well done. Mark please write up an article for Forza Magazine. The wider Ferrari community should be told how these fabulous old cars are reliable and FUN to DRIVE.)
I hope to see lots of members of the Yang Gang there.

On his trip to California, I hope Mark didn't have the same mechanical problem I had on the way to Cavallino in January 2010. My turn signal kept turning itself on and wouldn't go off. Those 365s are like that.

You wanted painted blue by January I'll paint it blue, how many cans of spray paint does it take to paint a Ferrari?

As for Cavallino without a car, no stress no judges just enjoy the event and do what you want when you want. This year like last year we are going early to play in South Beach a little and down to the Keys before heading up to Cavallino. This event has become a tradition like Monterey week and Italy in May, there is so much more to do and enjoy with the cars/ people than the 4 hours at the car show trying to win some $20 trophy. The laughs we had last year in the Caddy with John Bishop and my friends Bob & Gavin watch shopping in Boca out way any trophy for getting all the right stickers or hose clamps on a car. I love the cars and love seeing them all prepared on the lawn but I also loved seeing Art Taxman's cars in the warehouse down in Miami.

Mark you should definitely come down if time permits.

Zac, I think you're right about going to Cavallino without a car, at least partially. Maybe it's better to go with someone who takes a Ferrari. I went to FCA2008 and Cavallino with my car and FCA2009 (Elkhart Lake) without my car because, as Brother Dave Gardner used to say in the 60s, "It broke." While the stress of the show and the work of cleaning is not there, neither is the "I belong" feeling that goes along with admiring one another's cars on site. Maybe because you "live" Ferraris on a day-to-day basis, it's not an important feeling to you, but I missed it on the way to Elkhart Lake and while there. Chasing a bunch of beautifully noisy, smelly, polluting V12s across the country is just not the same thng when you are doing it in an air conditioned Lincoln with the stereo going.

Dempsey's right about the way I drive. I'm a Sunday driver, even in a Ferrari. When Steve Markowski described his trip from Québec to Vermont in the Queen I sold him, I puckered up. He drove it harder on his maiden voyage in the car than I had in the 26 years I owned it. I guess the best description of my driving style is, "NO B--LS!"

I would like to be in Florida with you guys but I've got too many other things going. Have fun, ya'll.

But it was ffffaaaarrrr more comforatable in the Lincoln than in a V-12 driving thru thunderstorms with rain flooding in through the wind wings and the A/C not working!

We will miss you this year.

Ok, so I have my tickets to arrive on Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon. I will be staying at the Bradley Hotel. So far I see confirmations from Tom Y, Zac, John & Sam. Anybody else going to be there?
