For one second I don't think anyone would lift a car using the gas tank as a jack support, but wait - there's still a lesson to be learned here. Many people have managed to damaged their car seriously by forgetting a randomly placed jack stand under the car when either accidentally or deliberately lowering their car, which may turn the joy of an excellent repair into a nightmare in one crunch of a nanosecond!
1) Always keep jack stands properly positioned, so if you accidentally lower the jack the car will fall back onto the stands instead of one of them having a peak inside your tank/engine.
2) Before lowering the jack, have one more peak under the car and especially make sure all your jack stands have been taken back to their proper storage space. Only then you may lower the car.
