B.O.M. ashtrays, light fixtures

Post by carello »

I am requesting help with understanding the B.O.M. stamped into period ash trays and light fixtures.
BOM would seem to stand for a company name.
Italian for brass is ottone - maybe the O. ?
Any help please? Thank you
Craig

Come on guys I am sitting here waiting for the patented Carello 16 page group disquisition on the minuscule and mundane regarding ashtrays this time. Where are the photos of the shop floor of the two manufacturers of Itailian car ashtrays. The finacial reports from the mining companies whose metal was used in ashtrays made between 1957 and 1962. The dead sea scroll like code breaking applied to obscure numbers hidden in odd places telling us things like the air temperature the day the ashtray was made. Hey ho let's go!

I think i used to know what company this actually was, but for national security reasons it could not be shared.
Anyway, hopefully some of you with Italian resources can achieve the goal of understanding something that would have been common knowledge 50 years ago.
Just a translation of the acronym BOM

Is it possible that BOM is related to Italian company Bomisa of Milano?
It appears they do stampings, work with brass, plating with chrome and their clientele includes Ferrari, Alfa, etc.
Maybe?

bomisa@bomisa.com

BOMISA is just a few miles off Milano and since 1920 it manufactures metal decorations and technical items in three different sectors: fashion, military and automotive.

In the fashion sector, brass, precious metals and compositions in differeent materials are used to manufacture buttons, buckles and fittings for the clothing industry; this is where it is a privileged dialogist with all the major international stylists, thanks also to the variety of the trims, the preciosity of the enamels and the remarkable capacity of the Styling Department. In the military sector and uniforms in general, besides the numerous embellishment items such as buttons, adornments, medals, BOMISA manufactures also technical items such as swords, handcuffs and parachute fittings.

The company is a member of EBIF (European Button Industries Federation) and of ECLA (European Clothing Association) and it was the first one in Europe in its sector to obtain the Certification according to ISO Norm 9002And it is just thanks to these structures that several times it has developed also technology agreements in many countries.

Looks like they perhaps also made all the logo badges on the cars. Here is a show in Italy of their 90th Anniversary http://www.bomisa.com/en/default.htm
