330 GTC horns

Post by enio45 »

I working on a customer car and i noticed the horns are blue and seem to be a newer type horn. Going thru some old photo's of the car during resto by a previous company, i noticed the horns were red with the red tubing at the time - so someone has changed them out .

The red ones are consistent with what i have on my 330 GT car but i was wondering - what is the correct horns for the 330 GTC can number 8843.

Appreciate the advise - if they are red horns and the of the orig style, where would one go to get a set? I think the hose is still avail at MAD enterprises?

The original horn color on my car (11043) was (and remains) silver. the horn bodies were hammertone silver and the air tubing red.

There is a long thread on horns posted somewhere here and determined mine should be red after reading it and confirming with Tom Y. Someone had painted them black (horns and bodies) and wanted to get them back to the original color.

During the late 60s the trumpets were changed from red to silver, but exactly when this happened is still up for debate. It may have something to do with the style of trumpet used on a particular car.

The horn mega thread is here: http://www.tomyang.net/cars/phpBB3/view ... f=2&t=3189

I just went through the same thing to fix horns that had been painted black. I guess the idea of black was to make them disappear because they are partially hidden to start with.

Not exactly correct, but pretty close and and pretty reasonably priced (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-FIAMM-D ... aa&vxp=mtr). Could easily be restored with info in the TY horn mega thread.

I'm not sure if they still have them, but Ricambi used to stock new OEM horns for the 355/456 (the last models that had Fiamm air horns) that had the proper red horns, not sure what the bodies looked like though.
