fuel rail

Post by tim »

Greetings… I have looked at a number of other cars and have not seen a fuel rail like mine. The others are one piece rail with 3 branches going to each carb and entrances on each end. Mine(64 330)is 3 separate "T" pieces with the yellow hose in-between. Does this make my car rare, unique, and worth more than my friends 275 GTB or just weird?

Could this be a retrofit from another car?
One advantage this would have over the one-piece is no need for fiddling with the spacing so the fitting won't leak.

Greetings… This is the same as mine. Cory's car and mine are 20 numbers (10 cars) apart. Anyone else with an early 330 (5749-5769)have this setup? Yes John, it is a lot easier to work with.

Yes John,
I also think they come from Alfa Romeo too ,not shown on any 330gt part manual
but look great are more functional.
as long the tube are flexible you can remove one after an other and not necessary all three.
All pre 1960 F- cars came with the three extra filter on each by-pass.
later till 330GT these don´t show up any more.
those filters are a bitt " overdressed " because two big filter are in line already.
but could be necessary when the fuel was bad in the early days ?
Ferrari did prefer Royal Dutch fluid Shell not Agip i.e
as always some pics

A word of warning. Before you chrome the fuel logs, make sure it was not Polished Nickel. I think you might be surprised. If your log still has original plating, a good plater can easily test and tell you what the original finish was.

Will do. Do you believe them to be nickeled or chrome
Thanks Dyke

Cory: My response will probably upset a lot of people, but all the ORIGINAL ones I have seen over the years on 250/275/330 cars were polished nickel except for six carb 275's, which were cad plated.

Cory: Another word of warning, It is VERY HARD to find an ORIGINAL fuel log today, as a log that was replated in 1975 is now almost 40 years old and can easily appear to be what people think is an original log.

I have one from a 61 GTE that I know is original. I'll look at it tomorrow and report.

Since Dyke brought it up, the rail does appear to be nickel and not chrome. The fittings certainly look like just nickle plated.
I'd better get a hold of the shop and change the order for these from chrome to nickle.

Dyke, based on your comments I will have the rail and the immediate fittings done in polished nickel. So, if I get dinged by the straw hat wearing gents it's something you'll have to live with till the grave ; )
